jpr··on Report: Apple Loses iPhone 5 Prototype. Yes, in a Bar.
Btw, downvoting just reaffirms my judgement about your appletardness.
jpr··on Report: Apple Loses iPhone 5 Prototype. Yes, in a Bar.
Ugh, anyone know of something along the lines Apple-haters -mailing list or something? I need a place where I can be reasonably sure that people who I am talking with aren't macfags.
jpr··on Rational Home Buying
Isn't this the very kind of thinking - thinking that houses are investments and surely the prices will go up - that caused the housing bubble?
jpr··on Rational Home Buying
Rational advice for splurging 500K to 1M+ on a "nice" home? Isn't that an oxymoron?
jpr··on Why Ubuntu Linux is now ready for primetime
This is exactly the same article that has already been written by every geek who blogs and has recently tried Linux. Nothing new or interesting. Flagged.
jpr··on Despite Y Combinator Growth, Paul Graham Still Coding
Not sure if serious or just mildly autistic...
jpr··on Is That Review a Fake?
What's the point of filtering out all non-five star reviews? I for one would be very interested in fake reviews by my competitors.
jpr··on In response to This*: Stop letting engineers get away with social ineptitude
As soon as people stop letting non-engineers get away with total, utter technical incompetence and stupidity.
jpr··on An Idea for the Economy that will Freak Out a lot of People
Yeah, stupid, ignorant and dangerous ideas tend to freak people out...
jpr··on Why are programmers afraid of not using semicolons in JavaScript?
That's a stupid question to ask. More appropriate would be: who on earth thinks that omitting semi-colons makes anything better?
jpr··on Why Social Proof Matters To Your Startup
Working servers matter more, the page doesn't load for me.
jpr··on Linus Torvalds dumps Gnome3 for XFCE (G+ discussion)
When was the last time you tried KDE4? I found that it was very unstable and buggy when I first tried it when it came out. Nowadays it seems stable (haven't had it crash anymore), and much less buggy (ie. normal level of bugginess).
jpr··on Study: Android is least open of open source mobile platforms
Considering that there are pretty much no other open source mobile platforms, that is trivially true.
jpr··on Update: Internet Explorer IQ story was bogus
So are you saying that no response data ever should be published, or people should be forced to take surveys and what not?
jpr··on Netflix Instant is coming to the entire Linux Community
Someone still thinks artificial scarcity is a viable business model?
jpr··on 3rd largest Bitcoin exchange lost its wallet.dat
There's a reason real banks use mainframes, not cloud services...
jpr··on Don't use Java 7 for anything, unless you have no loops in your program
Gah, I didn't remember that Java programmers have no sense of humor.
jpr··on Don't use Java 7 for anything, unless you have no loops in your program
Good, loops are just gotos in disguise, and gotos are already banned in Java. This just makes the language more consistent.
jpr··on Java 7 is now available
Perfect summation of everything java.
jpr··on OS X Lion Now Available in the US Mac App Store
That doesn't say much without any information about which other laptops you've owned...
jpr··on Apple Reports Third Quarter Results
> I like that Macs are true multi-user operating systems. I can separate work and leisure better that way.

I've heard this a couple of times in the last days, and it has left me wondering, in what ways isn't Windows a "true" multi-user system?

jpr··on OOP in Bash
There's insanity, and then there's this...
jpr··on 9.2% Unemployment? Blame Microsoft.
> We know this is true in our own lives. Things are lasting longer and working better.

Is this guy living in some parallel universe where planned obsolescence of overly complicated and fragile products isn't the norm?

jpr··on Bottle: Single-File Python Web Framework
Looking at the source is just one search away, instead of having to navigate many files or build a tag file or whatever. Also provides an incentive to keep shit tidy.
jpr··on Why don't they get it?
> human beings are "endlessly complicated and interesting."

Couldn't disagree more. Human beings en masse are endlessly boring and not interesting at all. Just because the soil of the earth contains a few diamonds doesn't make all the soil interesting.

jpr··on Hacker Poll: Is C++ the Language of the Future?
So your argument essentially boils down to "there should be some coding style in a project", which is true for all languages, not just C++.
jpr··on Hacker Poll: Is C++ the Language of the Future?
Why on earth would anyone want to use Java the language on anything else than JVM and get rid of the one and only alleged advantage that Java has?
jpr··on Hacker Poll: Is C++ the Language of the Future?
The "C++ is only usable in a subset" meme must die.
jpr··on Hacker Poll: Is C++ the Language of the Future?
I'm looking at it right now, and I'm on the verge of projectile vomiting.
