jpkeisala··on How to Live Without Google
I am quite depended on Google and it does not bother me at all. Very much similar way as I was depended with Microsoft years ago (Windows, Office, .NET etc...). I did not love them (in fact I though Bill Gates was quite evil guy) but with tools from Microsoft I was able to do my job just like now I do with different tools from Google. Today, if Google would suddenly disappear it would affect to my life much more than any other technology company.
jpkeisala··on Google is apparently ready to buy HTC
Why do they want to buy HTC? Are there some significant patents they are holding?
jpkeisala··on Vue.js vs. React
AngularJS maybe is dying but Angular is on steady growth.
jpkeisala··on Dell XPS 15 9560 Review
Simple touch screen is definitely enough for me. I don't feel I need tablet. I have Ipad and I hardly use it.

I find myself touching the screen when reading, on actionable wizards etc. So, it is mostly usability bonus for stuff that I could do in mouse. Funny thing is that I really didn't notice first that I started to touch screen.

jpkeisala··on Dell XPS 15 9560 Review
I am also developer and I changed last year from Mac to Dell XPS 13". I would have stayed on Mac but the new keyboard felt strange, touchbar is... well I felt it is time to try something new. One surprising feature that I though I would never use is touch screen. I really like it and I thought it would be useless.

There are some things that I think could be better. I think Windows is a bit ugly, hardware does not feel polished like in Apple but it's not nowhere as bad as Dells used to be. The only thing I go back to Mac when I need to do iOS stuff and sometimes when i get something from designers in Sketch format but it is unlikely that I will return to MBP anytime soon.

What do you mean by Europe's socialist ideals?
jpkeisala··on The Boring Company [video]
...and mining asteroids.
jpkeisala··on The Boring Company [video]
Trams are more expensive than buses. They have removed tram networks on many cities in Europe in favour of cheap diesel buses but slowly now some are getting back.
jpkeisala··on Postal: Open source mail delivery platform, alternative to Mailgun or Sendgrid
Is Postal and services like Mailgun solution for a functionality where email can be viewed/replied from personal email inbox and a web app? Then somehow magically these services routes mail to relevant inboxes and the web app like Zendesk etc?
jpkeisala··on My Hackintosh Hardware Spec
Exactly. I actually switched off from Mac to Windows last year and I do miss Sketch App and Xcode. I image in Linux also Adobe tools would be something that many would miss.
jpkeisala··on Tiny Social Icons – Miniscule SVG versions of social app logos
I wish I would have big enough site that this would matter in bandwidth cost.
jpkeisala··on Semantic UI
Is jQuery still a problem with mobile devices? I would image devices are faster now and isn't jQuery already in version 3. Haven't they optimize it?
jpkeisala··on Semantic UI
I wonder same as well. I am building something right now with v4alpha and I have not found any problems. Therefore it is a bit weird why don't they just call it 4.0 and be done with it.
jpkeisala··on Uber is ending its services in Denmark
This I did not understand either. I did try Uber few times in Copenhagen and instead of new Mercedes that I usually get as taxi I was picked up by some small hatchback and still end up paying pretty much the same. Also, taxi apps are good here.
jpkeisala··on Loading Components Dynamically in Angular 2
I also like a lot Vue. I have implemented one project with NG2. What I did not really realized on NG2 until "too late" that it is true SPA framework, it does not work well like NG1 where I could just have parts of site (or page) as an "app" and the rest would be normal website. But Vue does that perfectly and so easy to learn comparing to Angular and React.

Why these days Gulp is no longer in favor? Isn't it harder to configure projects in plain NPM/yarn?
jpkeisala··on Google Site Search will be completely shut down by April 1, 2018
They shut down Google Mini few years ago. I never really understood why would they do that. Looks like they are on the route to shut down all enterprise services.
jpkeisala··on Oracle refuses to accept pro-Google “fair use” verdict in API battle
They would be the real winners since it would slap both Google and Oracle.
jpkeisala··on Romania is developing its own culture of protests
I agree but perhaps its about to change. I am sure individual journalists will continue to hate what he represent but maybe in the boardroom they have already seen how just to analyze his tweets sells papers and clicks more easily than anything else.
jpkeisala··on Romania is developing its own culture of protests
I don't think its that much of "help their buddies in power by discrediting the protesters." as it is simply more entertainment. I remember someone asking from Cops tv-show maker why there is always African-American suspect and not a crooked banker. Where the guy simply answers if you can get crooked banker to take his shirt of and run down to street cops behind and we will film it.
jpkeisala··on XPS9350-macOS – macOS patches for Dell XPS 13 9350
I was sure I would never use it but it is quite amazing how fast my behaviour changed. After couple of days I was scrolling down webpages with my finger instead. Now, It feels so old and unnatural to have laptop without touch screen.
jpkeisala··on XPS9350-macOS – macOS patches for Dell XPS 13 9350
I switched from Macbook Air to XPS 13 in December. I would not say XPS is _very_ much behind on trackback at least when comparing to Air, not sure if MBP has different trackback?

jpkeisala··on Apple’s 2016 in review
I am really interested to see in 2017 Apple's product releases. Is iPhone 8 going to make me staying in iPhone? I already switched from Mac to Dell XPS and I am quite happy with it. I guess this year there will be many old Mac users that will be leaving Apple. Unless they do something drastic? But what could they do?
