joos3··on Launch HN: Hyprnote (YC S25) – An open-source AI meeting notetaker
Let's go! Trying it out, appreciate you building this as the hosted/online alternatives (Granola, Notion recorder, ChatGPT recorder etc) don't really make sense if you can record locally.
joos3··on Lenny's Product Pass (With new additions)
The redeem function seems to be temporarily down due to extreme demand. One of the new additions, Raycast Pro, is super interesting as I'm a Raycast user & fan
joos3··on Scrum is a cancer
To read without logging in to Xitter: https://nitter.net/svpino/status/1695806027256475777

joos3··on Bird Scooter is now a ~$15M market cap penny stock
Yep, and Bird racked up around $1.5B in operating losses (via equity financing & debt)
joos3··on When did people stop being drunk all the time?
While I agree with you, moderation works with some of these. It doesn’t work with alcohol.
joos3··on When did people stop being drunk all the time?
Not really. e.g. caffeine and nicotine don’t have harmful side effects. Neither do spending time with your friends or loved ones.
joos3··on When did people stop being drunk all the time?
Plenty of reason for it. Even small amounts are toxic and raise your risk of cancer, liver disease, f*k up your sleep etc.
joos3··on YC offers early interviews for AI companies
Big mistake imo to hop on trendy grifts. Please focus on the founders as before.
joos3··on Nitter is working again
This is absolutely amazing, as you still can’t view profiles or replies on Twitter without logging in.

I’ve been a nitter user for 4 years now and will be as long as it works.

joos3··on Tell HN: Tweets can be viewed again without logging in
I really hope that the trend of login walls and other barriers is reversing for the web.
joos3··on Tell HN: Tweets can be viewed again without logging in
Yeah, seems like Twitter changed the endpoint to /TweetResultByRestId from /TweetDetail. I know nothing about how nitter works, but should be trivial to fix, no?
joos3··on Ask HN: Why big tech companies don’t compete fairly?
Once a tech company gets bloated enough, they can’t ship stuff efficiently and are ripe for disruption. That’s why they need to resort to foul play.
joos3··on Instagram to Shut Down Threads App (2021)
(2021)
joos3··on Henry Kissinger turns 100 today
“Once you’ve been to Cambodia, you’ll never stop wanting to beat Henry Kissinger to death with your bare hands. You will never again be able to open a newspaper and read about that treacherous, prevaricating, murderous scumbag sitting down for a nice chat with Charlie Rose or attending some black-tie affair for a new glossy magazine without choking. Witness what Henry did in Cambodia – the fruits of his genius for statesmanship – and you will never understand why he’s not sitting in the dock at The Hague next to Milošević.” - Anthony Bourdain, 2001
joos3··on Smartphones wiped out 97% of the compact camera market
Agree. Fujifilm seems to be the only camera manufacturer really focused on firmware & UX design. They have almost Apple-like seamless usability and tend to keep updates rolling for 5 to 10 years.
joos3··on Smartphones wiped out 97% of the compact camera market
Seconding Ricoh GR III & IIIx. Absolute pleasure to use.

They might release an updated version (called GRV given Japanese superstition around number 4?) in 2023 or 2024.

joos3··on Teens are rewriting what is possible in the world of competitive Tetris
RIP Jonas. Such a legend
