johnnydoe9··on Microsoft's "Fix" for Windows 11: Flowers After the Beating
Side note but is this page not optimised for mobile at all or is it just me?

Either way, it's too little too late for me. I'll be trying to get into Linux again after Windows 8 times cause I've had it with Win11.

johnnydoe9··on Clearing 500k feral cats from New York’s streets
Absolutely love their youtube channel, would highly recommend it.
johnnydoe9··on Google Bard waitlist
I recall that it was though I could be wrong and getting confused with a dozen other products of theirs.
johnnydoe9··on Changes at YC
Don't worry guys, the people haven't been laid off they are just "impacted" by the new changes.
johnnydoe9··on Lessons learned from 15 years of SumatraPDF, an open source Windows app (2021)
Thank you for your work, really appreciate the app and have it on every device I run.
johnnydoe9··on Facet.space — A new space for remixable pro image editing
This could be the best photo editing tool in existence but I wouldn't know how to actually use it unfortunately. Agree with the others that the website is too cluttered
johnnydoe9··on ProtonMail CEO calls Apple's forced in-app purchases 'Mafia extortion'
If only that was possible but most companies won't bother trying in such a way cause they'd be losing out on a massively popular and profitable platform
johnnydoe9··on Amnesty International India Halts Its Work in India Due to Government Reprisal
Yeah my bad, halting expansion. Kia encountered major issues as well but continued in a different state IIRC
johnnydoe9··on Amnesty International India Halts Its Work in India Due to Government Reprisal
Toyota recently pulled out of the country due to ineffective bureaucracy and that's when they're pushing for more manufacturing. In cases like these there's no way for them to fight if they're against you.
johnnydoe9··on Google Blew a Ten-Year Lead
Seems to be their modus operandi to me, there have been some talks ranging from light ribbing to full on bashing regarding the new iOS update cause they have added features that have existed in Android for decades now. But what have they done with widgets in all this while other than letting it rot? Even Google services themselves don't bother with making a good widget and now Apple will do the same, possibly better.
johnnydoe9··on Show HN: Benefits comparison across tech companies
This is the most inane comment but it's kind of bugging me that they're misaligned, the same benefit as number 1 for one company and 3rd for another
johnnydoe9··on 92 of top 500 subreddits controlled by same 5 people
Not just the moderators the people who post the articles are the same as well look at bunyipouch on r/movies basically every post on hot is by this one account.
johnnydoe9··on Tor Browser disabled NoScript, but can't update
Every single one of my Firefox extensions stopped working with an error message that says "could not be verified for use in Firefox and has been disabled" re-downloading doesn't work either. I'm assuming it's happening to everyone?
johnnydoe9··on Audible and audiobooks, the fastest growing part of publishing
Microsoft had ebooks until pretty recently but I only found out about it because of the news about the cancellation of the service. Google Books added audiobooks a while ago but why they don't advertise on YouTube videos and podcasts I'll never understand.
johnnydoe9··on I Sell Onions on the Internet
You're friends with Einstein?
johnnydoe9··on Spotify to Apple: Time to Play Fair
I hope the EU takes this seriously just like they did with Microsoft. They shouldn't charge the 30% if they have a competing product and are undercutting it.
johnnydoe9··on Redirect Detective
Doesn't find anything when I input one of those youtube redirect links.
johnnydoe9··on How to beat LinkedIn: The Game
At least Outline doesn't have comments, a lot of sites have comments at the bottom of the article at the click of the button which you can't hit at times because it eagerly kicks you into another article.
johnnydoe9··on CBS “60 Minutes” piece on Google’s abuse of dominance
Hasn't Yelp forced businesses to pay or else they'll showcase the negative reviews more than the positive ones? Pot calling the kettle black when it comes to abusing dominance.
johnnydoe9··on Facebook lost around 2.8M U.S. users under 25 last year
This explains the text message me and a friend received today.

johnnydoe9··on Aaron, 5 years later
Just like everyone here Aaron has had a huge impact on my life. I don't have much to say here, just hope you're doing well.
johnnydoe9··on Books I read this year
I'm running uBlock Origin (that's blocking 30 items) and Privacy Badger (that's blocking 8) on Chrome 62.0.3202.94

Had no trouble with the site.

johnnydoe9··on Postmortem: Every Frame a Painting
While I'm sad my favourite channel has officially ended, I still feel so grateful cause they made me look at movies in a different light.
johnnydoe9··on Show HN: Hacker News for cryptocurrency and Blockchain
I can barely fit 3 posts at one time on my mobile screen as opposed to 10 HN posts. This is way too big.
johnnydoe9··on Google’s native ad blocker for Chrome shows up in Android developer build
I'm sure there will be millions of people who wouldn't know how to disable the inbuilt ad block, it would be interesting to see change in sites that don't work unless you pause the adblock.
johnnydoe9··on In Conversation: Trent Reznor
That In Rainbows style release via the email would've worked better if it was a NIN record instead of a collaboration with another artist.

Really nice to read his opinions though, I wish they asked some questions about working with Fincher and other movie soundtrack work they seem to be doing.

johnnydoe9··on The Presence of One’s Own Smartphone Reduces Available Cognitive Capacity
It's a one-device investment, you can't even use them on macbooks without a dongle converting it to 3.5mm jack let alone people who have 2 phones and the other being an Android, can't use the headphones on Android tabs or laptops. No point getting locked in.
johnnydoe9··on SpaceX Successfully Launches and Lands Second Reused Rocket
Yeah people seem to be getting used to it everywhere, on many forums too. And this is obviously the goal.
johnnydoe9··on Show HN: Retro Patents – Tech patents turned into art
Found out about this a couple months ago via the Lazy Game Reviews channel, have the PS 4 Controller one on my wall I love it.
johnnydoe9··on Facebook signs BuzzFeed, Vox, others for original video shows
People started theorising this the day he announced that "religion is important to him" which I thought was ridiculous, then he hired Obama's campaign advisers, announced tour of the country and then the recent war on fake news. If he doesn't run directly he's definitely reaching for some political clout
