jmpavlec··on Building Game Prototypes with LÖVE
FYI the link at the top of your GitHub to play doesn't work. Seems maybe you changed the domain name or maybe the version is outdated compared to the link you pasted here.

play.carimbo.cloud vs carimbo.run

jmpavlec··on Show HN: Eonfall – A new third-person co-op action game built for the web
It might be worthwhile to point this out explicitly on your home page for all the people checking it out on mobile. It wasn't inherently clear to me that I could play right now. Only found out it was playable by reading the comments here.
jmpavlec··on Show HN: Inspired by Tetris and Scrabble I built a new drag and drop game
Maybe they fixed it since your comment, but it worked perfectly for me on Chrome on Android.
jmpavlec··on Show HN: Block Sort, a mobile/PWA puzzle game without ads
Very nice, very smooth experience on Android. The animations were well done.

One bit of feedback, you could have a next level button rather than returning to the main screen.

One the first level, it would be nice to point to the tutorial overlay you have on your main page or perhaps create a demonstration animation. It was easy enough to figure out but might be nice to route new users there. I only saw it after completing 10 levels. Your could also add a small explanation when new mechanics are introduced in the level itself.

Overall, great work!

jmpavlec··on Ask HN: What are you working on (September 2024)?
Love the domain name! I should start blogging as well. Seems like it would help in a similar way as teaching others.
jmpavlec··on Ask HN: What are you working on (September 2024)?
Working on my side project https://gametje.com. It's an alternative to Jackbox games but it has a lower barrier for entry. All you need is a device with a web browser to play (also works with Chromecast). I'm trying to write some better tutorials for the early games I created to make it easier to get a feel for the gameplay. Also trying to work on the ui/ux flow to make it easier for people to understand what it is and how to create and host a game.
jmpavlec··on Show HN: A CLI tool I made to self-host any app with two commands on a VPS
I used to run it the cloudflared way as the other user described but the tunnel often went offline without explanation for short periods of time and the latency was so so in my testing. I run it more similar to you now and haven't had any stability problems since dropping the cloudflared setup. I use cloudflared for a less critical app on my own hardware and that also goes up and down from time to time.
jmpavlec··on Show HN: I built an open source Codepen alternative – Devcanvas
Nice execution. I toyed around with it a bit and it did what I expected. Great job!

The main page had a few UI things I noticed, The feature section changed the cursor to a pointer which made my think I could click on it but that didn't do anything. The embedded iframe at the bottom showed a cursor when I clicked into it but didn't let me type. It would be awesome to be able to type and have it reflect the changes right there instead of requiring the user to 'GOTO canvas' to actually change anything.

jmpavlec··on Show HN: Gametje – A casual online gaming platform
Creator here, happy to discuss anything or jump into a game.
jmpavlec··on Show HN: I built a Jeopardy game maker with buzzer support
I've been working on a similar-ish project with native Chromecast support and Amazon TV and using phones/tablets/laptops as controllers. You can give it a look at https://gametje.com (no login required, just continue as guest). It's less jeopardy/trivia and more like Jackbox. Currently has 3 games with the 4th almost done (available for Alpha testers). Was planning on sharing it on HN soon. Playable in 9 languages.

For Chromecast, you can cast directly from your phone and it copies the game code to join easily.

jmpavlec··on Stable Diffusion 3 online demo
Thanks so much! I'll give it a try this afternoon. Sorry for the delayed response, I don't check my HN replies very often.
jmpavlec··on Show HN: Peneterrer – The ChatGPT for Website Security Testing
Seems very thin on the details. Your GitHub is also quite sparse. Can you provide some more examples of how this works? Seems like mostly marketing fluff when reading through the site.
jmpavlec··on Stable Diffusion 3 online demo
Any chance you'd mind sharing that script? Sounds awesome.
jmpavlec··on Kaplay – a JavaScript library that helps you make games fast and fun
100% agree. I didn't even notice it. Just looked like wonky css or something on the side.
jmpavlec··on I couldn't escape poison oak, so I started eating it
Maybe the avocado bothers you? That's a common one.
jmpavlec··on Static Chess
All pieces can move everywhere...? And no rules seem to be in effect. What's the purpose of this?
jmpavlec··on Google made me ruin a perfectly good website (2023)
Stripe also has apple pay these days I believe.
jmpavlec··on Programming Is Mostly Thinking (2014)
Sounds like you are a "real developer". Don't sell yourself short.
jmpavlec··on Downpour is the game creation tool I have been working on for the past few years
Mobile site looks terrible to view. Colors everywhere and quite some bits not fitting on the screen. Reminds me of geocities.
jmpavlec··on Show HN: Boardzilla, a framework for making web-based board games
Looks really well done. The documentation was very well written. I don't have a use case at the moment but it was interesting reading through the documentation to see what is possible. The state management and replaying games seemed neat. I'm writing my own set of games and just thinking about making the system flexible enough for others to integrate with feels like a big undertaking. Cudos for the work you put in.
jmpavlec··on Migrating from Java 8/11 to Java 21, and Spring Boot 2 to Spring Boot 3.2
It kills me that this is the top comment which provides no substance to its claim. Personally, I love Spring Boot both at work and in my side projects. Can it be annoying if you get off the main path? Yes. Does it provide a bunch of useful things for most common web flows. Definitely.

Let's hear why you think we shouldn't be talking about it.

jmpavlec··on Easy Stable Diffusion XL in your device, offline
Mine takes about ~3 min per image, didn't do anything special. Left everything at default settings after my initial install (about 5 days ago). Not speedy but certainly not 15 min. Running on an M1 with 32gb ram.
jmpavlec··on Working on Multiple Web Projects with Docker Compose and Traefik
I recently set it up with a variety of apps (frontend/backend) behind it. Where did you see it should only be a basic html app? Don't recall reading that in their documentation.
jmpavlec··on Dutch rules will soon prevent schoolchildren from having a phone in classroom
Hope you enjoy your stay. I'm going on 8 years in the Netherlands (originally from the USA). The freedom my kids have here is a major reason we are still here. Biking everywhere is amazing. Work life balance and the ability to work part time is also a huge benefit over the US.

What area are you moving to?

jmpavlec··on Ask HN: Could you share your personal blog here?
Loved the sleeping through the tech interview post you highlighted. Very amusing. Great writing style.
jmpavlec··on What is the best dumb TV?
Can't you do this via your router?
jmpavlec··on Having Kids
Apparently you cant edit comments here... your daughters age was computable based on your comment :).
jmpavlec··on Having Kids
I've never related to a single comment so much. It can be exhausting. How old is your daughter?
jmpavlec··on Spleeter: Extract voice, piano, drums, etc. from any music track
Thanks for the Rick Beato mention. Just spent a couple hours watching some of his breakdowns. Fascinating stuff and reminded me how much I like this type of analysis.
jmpavlec··on Why do we think cats are unfriendly?
You should foster some kittens, then you can pick and choose the ones you want to formally adopt. If you don't mesh with the first batches personality, back to the shelter they go for a proper adoption. We had a "failed foster" and ended up with an amazing kitty.
