Hence colloquialisms like I need to "let off steam" or "I am under so much pressure".
It turned out to be an analogy that was so far removed from reality, it was useless.
I wonder if we are making the same mistake with computers as we know them today?
"I really just need to reset and reboot, y'know."
In my opinion, the hardest part of the problem is getting away from the psychology that pricing "uncomfortably high" is somehow cheating people. It isn't - your product is more often than not more valuable than the sum of its parts.
Would that be a job that circumstantially for all intents and purposes requires you to sit down for 8+ hours a day. Is that a poor choice? Would that take away my healthcare subsidy?
Is playing American Football, or kickboxing a similarly poor choice?
Would - and here's where I get facetious in a hope of highlighting the issue with the way you raise your choices/free healthcare point - knowingly continuing the pregnancy of a child with Downs Syndrome be regarded as a poor choice?
Finally, who decides?
"I want free/subsidised healthcare" and "I want to gradually erode my health without realising it OR incredibly cheaply OR because in helpless to not do so" are normally incompatible.
> The Serious Organised Crime Agency claimed that "90% of all €500 notes sold in the UK are in the hands of organised
crime", revealed during an eight-month analysis. Seems like the mere existence of the 500 euro notes and those stupid enough to use them presents a pretty good profiling opportunity.
Is that you, Bush Jnr?
There is, however, deep structural or cultural issues that causes Greece to have such a massive tax gap: http://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/scr/2013/cr13155.pdf.
People may well be working hard, but a significant enough number of people are not contributing enough to the state, yet are demanding (by voting) ever more from it, and leaders seemed to have always been relaxed about it (I can't find the source again, but I remember reading that there is even a significant tax cap in the civil service itself).
A good way to think about may be this: if you were to raise an angel round of $100,000, how much of a stake would you be selling: is that in proportion to what the lawyer is asking for?
When answering that question, I would also keep in mind: (1) is the lawyer's advice going to open up as much opportunity value as the angel coming on board ($1 != $1), and how much of a stake it would indirectly cost you if you were to simply raise an angel round and pay the lawyer money instead (which shouldn't be a huge amount; the kind of work you cited sounds like junior level work not much more than tailoring off the shelf agreements).
This is an excellent strategy and will pay dividends to RackSpace in the long term: what minor patent trolls will touch them now?
It is very frustrating - CloudFlare is used to protect a number of warez and file sharing forums and websites, but we struggle to get hold of the origin host information and have to go through CloudFlare who clearly are not geared up to deal with it.
