jimijazz··on Guitar amp and effects pedal built on the Waveshare ESP32-S3-Touch-AMOLED-2.06
From what I read you need an external interface if you want to use the board. The cable is just passing the audio signal through USB if I'm not mistaken (i.e. no Analog-to-digital conversion happening there--mac doing it for you I guess)

jimijazz··on NotebookLM's automatically generated podcasts are surprisingly effective
At what point did AI-generated human speech become so remarkably realistic?

I recall just a couple of years ago when even the best models, like WaveNet, still had a subtle robotic quality.

What architectures or models have led to this breakthrough? Or is it possible that, as a non-native English speaker, I’m missing some nuances?

Babble helped me quite a bit with my french
jimijazz··on The Body Keeps the Score: Book Summary
Biodanza is a system created by a Chilean psychiatrist that has worked wonders for me. It's a subconscious emotional healing technique where the process is experienced with a group of people and a person who facilitates the experience.

Or maybe they wear some sort of tags in their clothing to identify them as hiders.
jimijazz··on Ask HN: What do you think of a “varying ringtone”?
Hey, this is awesome. Thanks for sharing. Happy to know I'm not the first one to think about it. While it may be a niche thing, it proves that there is actually an audience for it. Did you have a price set for it? Did you do any kind of marketing for it?
jimijazz··on Ask HN: What do you think of a “varying ringtone”?
Interesting, thanks for the feedback!
jimijazz··on I quit my job today to make video games full time

I did, but the matches do not look like me.
jimijazz··on Could 'Oumuamua be an icy fractal aggregate ejected from a protoplanetary disk?
Is it technically correct to call 'Oumuamua an UFO? I mean, it is unidentified so it should apply, right?

May I ask out of curiosity what commercial application are you using GANs for if any?
jimijazz··on GAN – Generative Adversary Networks (2018)

Make your own Sauerkrout. Easy, cheap and delicious with any meal.
jimijazz··on Ask HN: Top three questions for a startup before accepting a job offer?
I'd always ask a startup what their runway is. If it's less than a year I wouldn't go for it.
jimijazz··on WiFi firmware bug affects laptops, smartphones, routers, gaming devices
How to know and what to do if my device is affected? Tried googling the chipset name and model with the samsung keyword but didn't get any meaningful results...

Is it me or Bitstream Vera Sans Mono looks exactly the same as DejaVu Mono ?
jimijazz··on Screen time: how much is too much?
This is an excellent read for data scientists, as it illustrates how easy it is to get possibly wrong conclussions from trying to find a particular correlation in data

jimijazz··on New Horizons’ first hi-res imagery of Ultima Thule
This is why I love HN: because I can count to have updated links to content I care for.
jimijazz··on New Office Hours Aim for Well Rested, More Productive Workers
From reading a blog post a while back I got into believing that I have a 25-hour circadian rhythm. This means that if I wouldn't use an alarm to wake up, I would end up waking up and going to bed later and later as days go by.

Is there such a thing? Does anyone have any similar experience/advise?

jimijazz··on Show HN: Analysis of 2018 Hacker News “Who Is Hiring” Job Posts
Good work. Besides fixing the false positives others have suggested, I would really like to see the total numer of posts per category in comparison to the total number of posts per month, i.e. a relative quantity to better explore wether there is a trend or not.
jimijazz··on Slack closes account of an Iranian user living in Canada
Interesting, I didn't know that. I guess that makes the self hosted path the only safe and sustainable path for managing one's information.
jimijazz··on Slack closes account of an Iranian user living in Canada
yes. are there any Swiss technological developments? are there any other neutral countries?
jimijazz··on Slack closes account of an Iranian user living in Canada
Totally agree about going to the self-hostable path. I would add as an alternative, looking for non-US products, maybe from neutral countries.

As someone mentioned in the twitter thread, this could happen to any product: Google, Facebook, even taking the bus!

My personal approach to storage is to prescind as much from it as I can. I'm constantly deleting old photos and media that I create, as I believe that I will have less and less time to even see them again in the future, so I'm trying to live as light as possible and keep only the 'prime' material.
jimijazz··on Don't Post Evergreen Content on Medium
May I ask how much can one make with such sort of income?
jimijazz··on Show HN: An experimental code search engine
This is fun. Why have you restricted the search to just Identifiers, Variables and Functions? Does this mean that text found in a comment block would not be a match?

I'm already devising how you could incorporate a bag of words algorithm plus an embedding to segment/find similar items.
