Technology under pressure looks a lot like biology.
Doesn't seem to be about AI, so much as the changing face of movie marketing. kinda. if you squint hard.
but laser light, like staring into the sun, will destroy the delicate structure of your retina, and it doesn't grow back.
"Please move" or "Get the fuck out of the goddamn way" both communicate the same information, one a bit more colorfully.
establishing and maintaining context, desired action and desired outcome take (well, me anyway) a substantial amount of time. Partly (for me) figuring out what the desired outcome actually is, and partly encoding that in a way that will be well received.
Ram takes so much space.
I think the limiter on smaller arms is quality servos with real location encoders - this one costs a couple hundred bucks for motors.
Not claiming the software is easy! But I think sourcing parts is (or has been) really hard.
I don't know much about steam engines, but more today, Thank you.
To my completely uninformed mind, it seems like you're saying, there's no huge plate to plate buildup of pressure, it's more like the ocean floor is spreading out, kinda like that picture?

although maybe it did have a special emergency release valve that was sealed with a weaker metal or something so it couldn't get enough pressure to catastrophically fail.
I'm skeptical of this claim at face value "impossible for it to blow up" but people are smart. it's probably true in a bunch of contexts.
I also found it quite humbling. But I take a little comfort in, that was their job, man. It's our hobby. I tell myself if I spent 10 years at that instead of poking at computers, I'd do a lot better. (That may not be true, but it's what I tell myself)
You can’t know, because the abstraction (add) destroys information. A “good “ abstraction destroys information that doesn’t matter, or maybe matter in a given context.
You can hang on to all of that extra detail, but it seems like that extra detail slows down drawing inferences.
When I claimed adding resulted in 5, you probably didn’t care if it was 5 apples or 5 skyscrapers. The addition results of 5 are the important part.
Kinda hand waving, but what is included and what is left out is the heart of abstraction imho. And when it’s left out, you can’t get it back.
Getting some random laptop and figuring out what kernel mods to enable and hope that the specific chipset revision was supported, or maybe a patch available that might work was, in fact, a lot of bullshit to put up with to get, say, sound.
sympy will do a lot. but you're probably going to have to reach for a big book of integrals, or find a friendly mathematician to identify the equation and possible approaches. Mathematica as a paid product has a lot of time and effort spent avoiding resorting to asking for help. Much much more built in.
As an undergrad or a hobbyist you probably want to stay "lower" and slog through the calculations when you're stuck. This is part of the process of understanding. But as a professional, or a more advanced user, screwing around for a week looking for a solution is a waste of time and expertise. Spring the cash, and move forward immediately.
I'm not trying to put words in your mouth, but I think there is some nuance that this maybe helps people understand your point.
"Better" really really depends on where you are and what you're trying to do.
All the photos of tanks had clouds in the sky. And few to none of the counter examples had clouds. So darpa paid for an expensive cloud detector.
Without more information about the study, I'm guessing there's a 'M' or 'F' stamped on the image somewhere.
_edit_ Ah - https://gwern.net/tank the tank story
The backtracking example is a good one. I vaguely remember needing to be careful about global state, or visible in a given context. It’s not awful, but a little tricky.
You make it sound like it's entirely about money and the bottom line.
I have a hard time believing gaming doesn't provide _huge_ contributions to favorable politicians. I feel like you've got something to say, and maybe something really interesting. But what you've got if awfully vague.
If you've got the time or inclination, I'd definitely read an elaboration of your meaning.
based on your username, I'll absolutely stipulate that you're correct. bitwize didn't really answer the question correctly.
I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm saying bitwize said what OP needed to hear to grok the answer, and that seems pretty fucking lispy to me.
I would guess, reflected moonlight (moon over the horizon) would be enough to light up the dot well enough to see unaided.
I didn't realize it was a rebalancing. But seriously, I have no regrets. if nothing else, the incentive alignment matches my values better.
Yeah. it's worth a few bucks.
Toys are neat. I dunno, if that's what you want, go for it. I sorta feel like you can do better.
Very cool project though.
