It actually blew my mind when I heard that you could assault someone on a plane and not be instantly banned
Now I see tank man when I search it on bing images....
It pretty much all went away once I got a cat. At first I thought it was coincidence, but over the years I noticed if I ever killed a random ant the cat would start rolling around and scenting the very spot the ant was killed.
I don’t have any scientific proof, but I have to think the cat’s scent/pheromones interferes with the ants and prevents more from following/coming.
Curious to hear any similar experiences
It deals with art - something that’s value is inherently subjective. Plus it gives makers of digital art a better/additional way to fund themselves. Further, transactions would likely be limited reducing environmental impact. Finally, it could provide some competition to company’s like Sotheby’s.
Obviously there a lot of open questions (couldn’t someone else just duplicate a work and make their own coin, why not just pay an artist directly, money laundering, etc). But I think this at least warrants further discussion. It’s an interesting way to make digital art collectible/tradable
Performance/bugs aside, what about the completeness issues? How can the game be acceptable or fun when cars run on tracks and NPC’s don’t have a problem being attacked?
That’s my main concern - I’m sure the performance/bugs will be worked out. But will the game actually be finished?
The Hacker News community is my favorite thing on the internet - and a good chunk of its success is due to your hard work!
Completely agree with your second point though (not that there is any collusion to silence conservatives - but that this whole situation will be taken that way and used to energize that base).
Edit: They do mention that it’s higher than other diseases relatively speaking, but don’t we expect Covid-19 to be higher than say, the flu, given it seems to primarily target the upper respiratory area?
Once healthcare workers are covered, then we can make sure everyone else starts wearing them.
I’m afraid it could cause some serious resistance to nuclear power, which could be a very important solution to energy security and aspects of global warming.
I’ve always wondered whether show writers consider this. It’s similar to the ER/medical shows where an organ donor turns out to still be alive or something like that. I wonder if they consider the potential damage that has on organ donation and the ramifications of turning off so many people from signing up to be a donor.
Once I hid it, things worked fine. I believe it’s the long title that is causing the issue.
They seem to be aware of it in that thread.

There is far more money at stake in maintaining the legitimacy of the the NBA (player salaries, tv deals, team valuations - all of these easily trump all the money made off of betting). Wouldn't that money fight a lot harder than any bent refs in order to fight corruption and maintain the legitimacy of the NBA?
If a bigger story about bent refs got out it would destroy the NBA and a lot of the associated revenue. I'm sure the NBA is aware of this.
I'm not arguing that there is no corruption, but I don't see why it's so 'obviously' commonplace as you and others suggest. I'd like a more concrete reason why than 'its good for marketing' since that seems like a weak argument in the bigger picture of money made from the NBA.
