jatari··on Peter Thiel's Antichrist Lectures
It doesn't seem that supprising. You need a certain level of narcissism/sociopathy to have the drive to become a billionaire in the first place.
jatari··on Bubble Sorted Amen Break
-100 points for not having a volume slider.
jatari··on Create value for others and don’t worry about the returns
>are we going to do any better next time

The US is completely fucked if another pandemic hits within the next ~20 years. Or at least until a large percentage of the anti-vaxers created in the covid pandemic age out of the population. Having a decent response when half the country is going to be on team virus is not possible.

> Have we put measures in place to ensure that accurate information about the disease, including appropriate disease-specific hygiene measures, are rapidly disseminated.

This is irrelevant if half the country has the through process of "goverment says it therefore it is fake news bill gates microchip conspiracy".

jatari··on Create value for others and don’t worry about the returns
A foreign national buying one of the largest American media platforms and turning it into a right-wing propaganda machine should probably concern you at least somewhat.
jatari··on Create value for others and don’t worry about the returns
There was literally never a time where mainstream medical advice was "masks do nothing".
jatari··on AI doesn't replace white collar work
Replacing work does not neccessarily mean replacing workers.
jatari··on I'm Not Consulting an LLM
Do you really think e.g Opus 4.6 is less reliable than the average facebook/x post (which is where most people get their news from today)?

People already just blindly believe whatever is put in front of them by the algorithm gods. Even the "@Grok is this real" spam on every X post is an improvement.

jatari··on I resigned from OpenAI
China is currently a more morally virtuous country than the US.
jatari··on Yoghurt delivery women combatting loneliness in Japan
Nothing wrong with being a robot.
jatari··on Yoghurt delivery women combatting loneliness in Japan
Yes, how do we optimize social interaction out of our lives, maybe we can all live in VR with simulated girlfriends and never have to interact with another human again.
jatari··on Why Going to Mars Would Be Bad for Your Health
I think the bigger issue is I doubt any company is going to blow a trillion dollars to send a person to Mars.
jatari··on Why Going to Mars Would Be Bad for Your Health
It's okay to realise some things are just beyond us right now. There is plenty of other things humans can do with their time.

I would rather the geniuses of earth work on anti-aging or cancer research than wish fulfillment of a 50 year old man child.

jatari··on Sea level much higher than assumed in most coastal hazard assessments
Climate hasn't been a real topic of discussion since the Obama administration.
jatari··on I'm reluctant to verify my identity or age for any online services
Because the negative effects of unrestricted internet access on children (and adults) is becoming more evident.
jatari··on I'm reluctant to verify my identity or age for any online services
Ok, so what do you do when your child visits a friends house and they have unrestricted access to the internet?
jatari··on You are going to get priced out of the best AI coding tools (2025)
You get plenty from the $20 a month claude subscription. Just don't expect to leave it running on its own for hours a day.
jatari··on A new Polymarket account made over $500k betting on the U.S. strike against Iran
No one is forcing anyone to bet on prediction markets. People use polymarket fully aware of the near certainty of insider trading.
jatari··on AI is making junior devs useless
Highly motivated people will use whatever tools they have to get better at something, whether they have a textbook, the internet or a LLM to use.

The skill of the very top programmers will continue to increase with the advent of new tools.

jatari··on Iran's Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is killed in Israeli strike, ending 36-year rule
This is the kind of brainrot that lets people like Trump get into power in the first place. Removing all agency from the American people by pretending that "both sides are the same". It's just pathetic.

You have built yourself a safe little cocoon, protected from the messy imperfect reality of the world, where sometimes you have to make compromises and you don't always get what you want.

jatari··on Iran's Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is killed in Israeli strike, ending 36-year rule
If he didn't want to be assassinated maybe he shouldn't have killed all those people.
jatari··on Iran's Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is killed in Israeli strike, ending 36-year rule
The entire continent of europe would be celebrating.
jatari··on Obsidian Sync now has a headless client
Does the knowledge graph have a function other than to show off how big your vault is?
jatari··on A new California law says all operating systems need to have age verification
The law is targetting consumer operating systems, not linux servers/iot devices.
jatari··on A new California law says all operating systems need to have age verification
It would just be unenforced for all platforms except windows, apple and android.

I doubt the california legislature knows what a Linux even is.

jatari··on Dyson settles forced labour suit in landmark UK case
Yep pretty much no difference between 1800s chattle slavery, and having to work in an office.
jatari··on Statement from Dario Amodei on our discussions with the Department of War
The Democrats are currently overwhelming favourites to win the House with a decent chance of also winning the Senate in the 2026 midterms and strong favourites to win the 2028 presidency.

I'm not sure why you think they are doomed.

jatari··on Nano Banana 2: Google's latest AI image generation model
Presumably you give the render to a designer and they recreate it using real materials.
jatari··on Pi – A minimal terminal coding harness
Code hotloading isn't a particularly difficult feature to implement in any language.
jatari··on Terence Tao, at 8 years old (1984) [pdf]
Real answer, none of us can do anything more than what you are given by your parents. You get the brain you get and that's it. You can either work hard and improve and become a genius or you become a drug addict and die in a gutter. Determinism and the laws of physics rules us all.

We might as well chose to praise those of us who were gifted with abilities that we aspire to.

jatari··on The Age Verification Trap: Verifying age undermines everyone's data protection
The law is there to protect children in the case they have absent/neglectful parents. Unfortunately not every child has a parent as aware as you.
