The "risk premium" on these loans likely would've been FAR higher (or rather, people might've just stopped making loans altogether) if people were just allowed to declare bankruptcy right after getting the education.

There's a difference between being a "bootlicker" and being extremely unprofessional (to the nth degree).
This is it.
This is how I approach in writing software.
99.9% of the stuff I write is going to have one user. But it's one more than zero, and in the 0.1% of the cases where it does have >1 users, well, I call that a success.
Kinda afraid of sharing it (the quality isn't "top notch", I just write about whatever, whenever my ADHD-addled brain allows for it), but in general, I write about tech stuff (OSS/nodejs/devops/frontend/backend) and some "higher-level" stuff (e.g. the role of software in business value chain, Conway's Law but for development processes, etc).
You can see all the ones I'm actually sort of proud of in the "Featured" sidebar to the right.
Like damn, I knew I was supposed to do such things already, but it's the difference between mom saying to eat your veggies vs. mom slamming down a stack of scientific paper about why not eating veggies will literally kill you or whatever.
Of course all business should comply until they can't, at which point it's really not their problem anymore. I think it's perfectly fine to say "hey, we did our best", but if it still isn't enough, to simply not play the game.
Theoretically, they could just publish the list of IP ranges that canonically "belongs" to archive.is. That would allow websites to distinguish if a request identifying itself as archive.is is actually from them (it fits one of the IP ranges), or is a fraudster.
Climate change and rising sea levels are probably going to screw us in the city over much more quickly and immediately, no?
To be fair, it sounds like that would just make the DX wonderful no matter which stack you were using?
Thanks for the link!
I've been insanely burnt out by random bullshit at work, wondering why I'm even in this business to begin with, and after watching a few of these it really motivated me, brought back the old memories of wanting to build cool stuff and ideas to solve real problems (a lot of the ideas that I still hold onto), and made me realize that I'm unhappy with work because all I was doing was just people bullshit and bureaucracy bullshit every day, and not actually out there, building stuff; that I just became "yet another white collar worker" and not a hacker and an engineer.
And that has allowed to see what went wrong, and plan for how to get out of this "ditch of boring, stressful politics and human pit".
Seriously, thank you. Without this thread, I would've likely continued to slog on at work without remembering my buried ambitions.
I understand that not all developers are native English speakers, but far more scammers are non-natives than devs are; not to mention, there are likely checks in companies like this to proofread any text before it goes "live".
