Tangential: is the unit kWh/h a standard in the industry? It hurt my brain until I canceled the hours and got kW.

(Yes I know kWh is a widely used unit of energy)

> 9. If a minor dependent collaborates on my Personal Game as allowed in term 8, I agree to the following: Given that said minor dependent may hold partial copyright power for my Personal Game, I relinquish said minor dependent into the care of Amazon in perpetuity. I understand that I will still be responsible for said minor dependent's financial maintenance.

Unbelievable that they'd go through this charade to arrest ~Snowden~ Protasevich.
jahabrewer··on Ask HN: What kind of chair are you using for WFH?
EAG Management. It's expensive, but I'm over the moon about it. Phenomenal chair. I got one for cheaper by ordering a scratch and dent (hardly) from the ebay store of a HM distributor.

edit: Also, you start seeing this chair _everywhere_ in movies and TV.

jahabrewer··on Rookie coding mistake prior to Gab hack came from site’s CTO
A mistake can be both "rookie" and widely prevalent. That's exactly how I'd describe SQL injection.

I really don't know, but aren't there some caveats about those assuming that space is flat or something about the rate of expansion?
jahabrewer··on Dmitry Rogozin on SpaceX Crew Dragon Launch
I guess I understand the... aggressive tone of the piece given the amount of flag waving in the recent Crew Dragon launch. But, just speaking as an American with a little interest in space, I have a lot of respect for the Soyuz program.

jahabrewer··on Shenmue's Much-Hated Forklifts Feel Revolutionary Today
Oh man, Spec Ops is one of my top games, but I've only played it once. Same feeling as watching Requiem for a Dream--once is enough. It's difficult to recommend it to people without giving away the experience of walking in to it thinking "it's just another mideast shooter".

jahabrewer··on Ike Jime, the Japanese Slaughter Method for Tastier Fish
> In liberal society today many equate killing an animal to violent murder.

I kinda feel like it's seen as the opposite--a very controlled thing that has been industrialized to a huge scale.

> If you spend time around hunters or farmers, they have much more complex relationship with animals than most urban dwellers do.

I don't think it's these hunters and farmers who are running CAFOs.

jahabrewer··on Games Today Shut the Door to Tomorrow’s Devs
I love Paradox. I happily fork over $10-20 a few times a year for new EU4 and Stellaris DLC. I feel like (1) the longevity of those games, (2) the ability for the developer to majorly rework systems far past release (see EU4 Art of War), and (3) modding ability, are all related.
