In San Francisco, people aren’t surprised to have cars broken into multiple times a year at this point. The only change I’ve seen is more auto glass repair companies. Sometimes we are stuck with “perverse incentive”

I don’t see how it would possibly be worse than it happening in use V’s. Testing. This is part of why there is testing. Any system a small percentage of components will be out of spec or defective. Or damaged in transit. There are on the order of 1+ million or more individual battery cells in this installation, which means also multiple times that in electrical connections, plus BMS electronics. Assuming it stays isolated to a single unit, and no other fires occur, I would say their system design is excellent.

I’ve found it super useful, personally, and am really glad both that it’s a feature and that it’s not on the cloud.

They have had a similar feature since iPhoto in maybe 2010, but it has only been on the phone since recently.

I reference photos of people I know all the time as well as use photos to track wiring of projects I work on, etc.

The same infrastructure allows searching for all kinds of different objects as well, which is pretty cool.

Especially interesting to me is to search for “art”. It shows things I’ve tagged, as well as what the model calls art which is often actual art (I’m an artist among other things) but sometimes is weird photo angles and interesting color schemes.

I think it has decent taste, even.

I’m pretty sure this blog article is just about one specific feature. I suspect that they use ML for other things in iOS but for clarity may have focused on one thing here.

Lead acid are not particularly great as far as DOD (depth of discharge) or longevity.

Comparing for example a 100ah lifepo4 to 100ah lead acid, the useable capacity of the lithium will be close to 4x more. Using the full capacity of the lead acid will make them wear out quickly.

I got the impression from their page that the cells are immersed in liquid electrolyte. I’d guess that humidity shouldn’t effect things much

Would this integrate to give scale, in say, Meshroom? Or it’s manual calibration step someplace along the workflow?

Is that accounting for splits? Apple (for example) has split 28:1 since that time, making the equivalent price today around 4K/share.

Most cars still default to incandescent bulbs for many uses. Few cars attempt to understand the situation around them, beyond a rear camera and maybe ultrasonic reverse sensor for parking. Engine control units have gotten more complicated, but unless high end or EV, It’s mostly mid 90s tech. Disagree?
