isaacforce··on The Forgotten World of BBS Door Games
Writing Telemate scripts to automatically play MajorMUD for me while I was AFK is how I got started with programming! I got to the point where I was distributing my scripts via a forum on a board I played on, and I even got contributions back from a couple people. Definitely a lot of fond memories there.
isaacforce··on CouchDB Notice for 1.0.1 - Potential Data Loss
I don't believe the emergence of a single bug tarnishes an entire codebase and labels it as poor quality. This situation seems like a lapse of judgement in process, which they've fessed to and provided a path to correction for.
isaacforce··on Let's Do Some Science: Zed's Test Stack for poll vs. epoll
>I'm challenging you to provide the data that apparently is still missing that proves that this was not 'a localhost test'.<

I think what he was saying in relation to it being not 'a localhost test' is that it isn't a test that touches the network stack, even to the loopback interface -- you seem to be equating localhost with anything that happens on a single local machine regardless of whether it has anything to do with the network or not. A difference in use of terminology, perhaps.

isaacforce··on Poll: When do you usually go to bed?
I'm unemployed right now, so my sleeping habits have gotten a bit strange with nothing to force me in to any sort of schedule. I find that my "go to sleep" signals don't start coming until after I've been awake for 18-20 hours, then I sleep anywhere from 6-10 hours, so my sleeping time tends to slip forward on the clock constantly.

Not having a fixed schedule doesn't particularly bother me, but being disconnected from the day when I go to sleep after the sun has been up for a while is a bit bothersome. When it gets to that point I usually stay up all day so I go to sleep at a "normal" time.

isaacforce··on Ars reviews the Motorola Droid X
Having larger than average hands I welcome a larger touchscreen phone in to the marketplace; but it does look a bit overly large when held by the reviewer in the opening image, yes.

I used to have an iPhone, and now I have an original Droid, and I didn't and haven't found a way to hold either of them in portrait and type with both thumbs comfortably. The iPhone soft keyboard was a bit better than the Droid's, but the Droid's hard keyboard is much better for me than either on-screen option.

isaacforce··on The Great Ruby Shootout (July 2010)
I have both MRI and JRuby installed on my systems. For quickie scripts I use 'ruby' and for anything with a noticeable runtime (Or multi-core processing!) I use 'jruby'. I'm sure the JRuby fellows will continue working on startup time, but for me at least, it's not an issue.

I think having a Ruby toolbox instead of a single big hammer is a win for everybody.
