ino··on A man wouldn’t leave an overbooked United flight, so he was dragged off
He was visibly traumatised (videos show a man bleeding and under mental stress, not safe for work)

ino··on Ask HN: What are pros and cons of PostgreSQL and MySQL?
That's not what I was talking about. I stand by my comment, and you just made my point stronger.
ino··on Ask HN: What are pros and cons of PostgreSQL and MySQL?
I've seen online far more PostgreSQL fans bashing MySQL than the other way around.

It's like there's an online task force to make MySQL look like shit.

And for most cases it won't matter and one should pick what they're more comfortable with. And if the requirements aren't that simple, people should do their own research.

ino··on Snowden: NSA just lost control of its Top Secret arsenal of digital weapons
Amerikanski also means American language, but I think it would be a little stretch for Amerikanskis to mean people who speak american english.

Implausible, I guess. It feels more like somebody faking a russian person writing in english for obfuscation rather than deception purposes.

ino··on Android overtakes Windows as the internet’s most used operating system
> 1. What percentage of Android devices download apps exclusively from Play?

The entirety of China doesn't even have Google Play Store.

ino··on Iosevka – A Typeface for Code, from Code
Interesting, thanks! Anyone knows how do I chose it in Sublime Text on macOS?
ino··on Iosevka – A Typeface for Code, from Code
How do Stylistic Sets work?

I like how ss08 looks.

Is there a Iosevka ss08 font download, or must I build it myself?

ino··on Show HN: Kite, copilot for programmers, available for Python
To do that, you have to commit and push. With kite, you might not even realize it uploaded something it shouldn't have.
ino··on The new £1 Coin
It is normal to translate acronyms. USA is EEUU in Spanish or EUA in Portuguese, for example.

I'm not contradicting you, just clarifying.

ino··on The end of smartphone innovation
After moto g2 I'm never ever buying a motorolla phone again. Ever.

Constant crashes, hangups, it takes 5 minutes to power on. I'm not alone, the internet is filled with people having the same issues. The updates to newer android versions made everything even worse. Worst phone ever, and I bought it because os the astroturfing on the internet.

ino··on Happiness report: Norway is the happiest place on earth
There's an interesting interview where a North Korean refugee in South Korea says that the people in NK are happier than those in SK. It's in part 2 of the following series.

ino··on Lisping on the GPU [video]
constant audio cuts make this unpleasant to watch.
ino··on Unsealed Documents Raise Questions on Monsanto Weed Killer
So they only know it's safe because people try to commit suicide with it and fail?
ino··on Show HN: An HTML/CSS/JS toggle switch with happy and sad emojis
I don't like the switch design for people using a mouse.

What is the behaviour? Should I click the switch? Where do I click it: where it is or where I want it to go? Or should I drag it?

And usually only one of those actions work and I seem to always miss toggling it on the first try.

ino··on Gmail Add-ons
When is google adding missing useful functionality such as "schedule email send"?
ino··on UnCSS: Remove unused styles from CSS
Serving the page with inlined CSS also has the compression benefit of many html ids and classes being repeated in the CSS.
ino··on New island in North Sea to be hub for wind turbine power to 80M Europeans
perhaps you'd also be able to screw with the living habits of underwater life that relies of the earth's magnetic field
ino··on Google featured snippets are worse than fake news
It's also on Google Home, and having a voice say the lies makes it even scarier:

edit: I saw now this video lower on the article, I thought it ended on "SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTER"

ino··on Improvements to searching for special characters in programming languages
Any tips on searching for C and not C++ or C#? (google or ddg)
ino··on Show HN: fman – file manager for programmers
Looks nice and minimal, but a bit too barebones, mouse seems neglected even for basic usage. I'm missing /.. to go up on the top of the folder, for example. Or even better, It'd be nice if I could click anywhere on the path to go there directly.

I'll keep an eye on the project as it is something I would gladly use.

My all time favourite nc clone is Altap Salamander, but sadly it's windows only. https://www.altap.cz All the others I've tried, FAR, TC, etc. seemed too ugly or clunky.

ino··on Video Pros Moving from Mac to Windows for High-End GPUs
If/when I leave macOS, it'll be for linux or bsd, not Windows. I have to use Windows 10 3-5 days a week and rare are the ones I don't curse at it.
ino··on DuckDuckGo Donates $300K to Raise the Standard of Trust Online
In my experience, google results are better in incognito.
ino··on Samsung warns customers that Smart TVs are always listening (2015)

ino··on High-speed rail taking shape even as opponents seek to kill it
In Europe it's usually much cheaper to get a low cost flight than the train.
ino··on A glitch in the human psyche that equates repetition with truth
It's also useful when the text makes no sense, is offensive, outdated and/or just plain wrong, so with repetition they can always say "that's how we always did it so it's right" to shun off the people who grow up, think for themselves and start questioning the texts.
ino··on Facebook Has No First Amendment Right to Send Unauthorized Texts, Says Court
No, but if it bothers you so much, you can always use email filters. I've told all my friends not to use Facebook if they want to message me. And the other people aren't urgent so if I see the message only next week, that's ok.

ino··on Below Deck: Filipinos make up nearly a third of all cruise ship workers
Do you have to pay if you're unemployed?
ino··on A glitch in the human psyche that equates repetition with truth
Mantras, christian chants, and others. Repeat ad infinitum.
ino··on Below Deck: Filipinos make up nearly a third of all cruise ship workers
Germany doesn't, for example. You have private ensurance companies and you have to chose one. When things go bad, you bet the insurance company won't be on your side. It's all ok if you have a good job (IT or otherwise) that pays for the best, but for poorer people it sucks.
