inconditus··on Is Facebook down?
Works fine in San Diego, California, but images aren't showing up.
inconditus··on Ask HN: Who Is Hiring? (November 2012)
I've read this advertisement in the last 2-3 "Who's hiring" posts. I finally understand what they do after you highlighted that sentence.
inconditus··on Richard Feynman’s Caltech Graduation Address on Integrity
Walter Lewin's been doing it since 198x, probably earlier.
inconditus··on Richard Feynman’s Caltech Graduation Address on Integrity
Your anecdote about the bowling ball is (AFAIK) incorrect, you're thinking about Walter Lewin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaALPa7Dwdw. (starts at 1:08)
inconditus··on Big Data University: Free Database And Hadoop Courses
FWIW, this is running on Moodle, a very popular e-learning platform.
inconditus··on Who Killed Men's Hats? Think Of A Three Letter Word Beginning With 'I'
Just like how the lack of pirates caused global warming, right? ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File%3aPiratesVsTemp_English.jp...
inconditus··on Show HN: Distinct Color Palette generator using Red-Yellow-Blue colorspace
What's pretty cool is that if you generate 1000+ the colors begin to become muted and look "foresty". Why's this?
inconditus··on The Moon’s Giant-Collision Theory Proven Incorrect
I'm being picky here, but the word "proven" doesn't really make sense in the context. A more accurate way of expressing the title would be "Evidence supports a different theory" or "Less support for this theory", as theories can never be proven.
inconditus··on Samsung releases Galaxy S II ICS source code
CM9 stands for Cyanogenmod 9.
inconditus··on MITx First Course "6.002x Circuits and Electronics" is Live
It'd be great if one could toggle the quality of the videos, the default is 480 but I noticed you guys offer 720.
inconditus··on Windows 8 Consumer Preview released.
Off topic, but did you wait 8 years upgrading from ME to Vista?
inconditus··on Nevada approves regulations for self-driving cars
Is this a serious argument? One could say the same thing about:

1) The advent of modern gardening and genetically modified crops. With increased efficiency, where will the extra farmers go?

2) The advent of computers. What will happen to books? The tree cutters? The people who ship the trees to the lumber plant?

I could go on and on about ANY technological advance in the last 200 years. I don't see how cars are any different that will bring "marxism or communism".

inconditus··on MIT Level Introductory Physics - Free Online Course Starts March 1st
Perhaps they just started now, Physics h7B requires it. http://ninjacourses.com/explore/course/2433/#books
inconditus··on MIT Level Introductory Physics - Free Online Course Starts March 1st
UC Berkeley uses the books for their course. I'm not sure which specific class though.
inconditus··on Be better at math: Running causes neurogenesis in spatial reasoning region.
As mentioned below, BrainWorkshop(http://brainworkshop.sourceforge.net/) is an open source version of the software, and they offer usage statistics if anyone's interested: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AoDHizcNs2tWdDd...
inconditus··on Amazon launches as Junglee in India
Amazon made Junglee, at least according to the "service provided by Amazon" on the bottom.
inconditus··on Tell HN: RAM Requirements are going through the roof
Certainly all true points. However, for the people without the luxury of 16GB (I'm running on an old machine, with 3gb of RAM), Chrome consistently freezes the computer due to the resource hogging. I've learned my lesson and switched to Firefox.
inconditus··on Anonymous' new weapon
Anyone have a source? I'm curious how crafted GET statements can lead to a DDOS.
inconditus··on Amazon studios
Thanks for correcting me. Also, we have similar usernames. ;)
inconditus··on Amazon studios
Amazon Studios has been out for at least 4 months previous to the writing.
inconditus··on Cracking WPA networks with MacRuby
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this isn't a brute force attack, its a dictionary attack. A brute force attack would go through every iterattion, like 00001, 00002...

they have been DOS'ed today (see: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3438134), its a probable reason why hckernews isn't working.
inconditus··on [dead]
Not relevant to Hacker News. Please don't turn it into a Reddit.

Guidelines (http://ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html) state:

> Off-Topic: Most stories about politics, or crime, or sports, unless they're evidence of some interesting new phenomenon. Videos of pratfalls or disasters, or cute animal pictures. If they'd cover it on TV news, it's probably off-topic.

inconditus··on Go Daddy No Longer Supports SOPA
> HN is solely responsible for this

Several communities worked together, such as the tech blogosphere, Reddit, and other social media. Although HN may be the birthplace of the idea to boycott Godaddy, its hardly just HN being responsible.

inconditus··on Galaxy Nexus Available In US
Slightly off topic, but its a pet peeve that gadgets don't actually show (the limitations of) their product. See for example, their video camera: http://puu.sh/aKx3. The "video" taken is obviously not by the built in vidoe camera.
inconditus··on Save the Internet - the pressure is working
On a semi-related note, has anyone signed up for them? They don't comply with the CAN-SPAM act by not giving an unsubscribe link in the emails they send out.
inconditus··on I too know the websites you visited
Related, an advertising company who was accused of tracking history: http://cyberlaw.stanford.edu/node/6695
inconditus··on Smooth CoffeeScript
I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, but the parent was offering advice for accessibility to help the member's of the community improve on their projects. Why would you disapprove of that?
inconditus··on New Stanford class on Cryptography
ML-class does not necessarily apply to all other 10 courses offered by Stanford. I would not be surprised if they weren't given for the entrepreneurial classes offered.
inconditus··on Apple iPhone Safari Crasher (iPhone 4 & 4S, iOS 5.0.1)
Chrome shows me the Oops, crashed tab. Does it crash the entire browser for you? (Windows XP, 15.0.874.120 m)
