Why not they both already provide their models for free...
impulser_··on America.gov
I believe it's a mix of Gemini and Grok. They are probably providing the compute for free.
impulser_··on OpenAI: Tomorrow we are re-opening the Pro $200 subscription
It's very obvious that they need compute for whatever they are announcing tomorrow and that thing will most likely have free usage. So they are cutting usage on the biggest users of compute to allow them to be able to serve whatever they are announcing tomorrow to the masses.

The thing is probably a Muse, and Grok Bot competitor.

impulser_··on Leaked Gemini 4 Pro numbers
It doesn't matter if the leaks come from Google themselves until you use a Gemini model you don't know how good it is. I mean Flash 3.8 is second on DeepSWE and there isn't a single person picking that model over Sol and Astra or Opus and Fable.
impulser_··on DeepSeek Elastic Compute (DSec)
Yeah, but that brings up another problem that China doesn't have. Their federal government is always on the same page. The US federal government changes every two years and it doesn't seem like one side is going to be allowing building of AI data centers anymore and in fact might just ban AI in general.
impulser_··on DeepSeek Elastic Compute (DSec)
Short term they might have less compute, but long term they will most definitely have more compute. They don't have to worry about energy, they don't have to worry about people blocking them building data centers the only thing stopping them is there no Chinese manufacturer that can produce a chip as good as Nvidia but I would bet that solved in a year or so.

I think you're underestimating Facebook if you think they don't know your address.
impulser_··on Meta VR Glasses
What does your state ID have that Facebook can't already get?
impulser_··on Claude discovers a novel enzyme system with CRISPR-like repeats
As they should because things like this get people thinking even if it something small. Once you get people thinking about things you tend to get solutions.
impulser_··on GPT-6 Sol and Luna
It was 9.4B to be exact and it was over the course of two days lol. It was between two projects so 99% of them were cached reads.

The GPT was about 1B on two projects on 300$ worth of plans all on Astra and I capped out on usage.

Anthropic caching must be better because the cache rates are better on Claude models.

impulser_··on GPT-6 Sol and Luna
Usage is actually Claude now because of Opus 5.5 since it a better model that Astra. I maxed out my 200$ Claude plan with 10b token on Opus 5 and 5.5 is cheaper. I maxed out two Codex accounts with like not even 5b tokens.

Well maybe they should because companies that do cool shit tend to attract people wanting to do cool shit and those are the people you want to be working at your company.

Unless you want your company to become Google which use to do cool shit but now they dont and now they don't have a single person at the company that can build cool shit so they just release a bunch of lame shit.

impulser_··on Xiaomi Mimo 2.6 live post-training dashboard
Why the fuck would you or I care about that?

Anthropic and OpenAI literally stole from every human in history and youre out here complaining that the Chinese are distilling models and releasing them to the public?

Why do you care?

impulser_··on Nvidia announces native GPU programming in Rust
LLM don't need to be trained in a library to use it well. It's just Rust which they know well.
impulser_··on Xiaomi Mimo 2.6 live post-training dashboard
This isn't about liking open source. This is about the labs just being cool and doing cool shit instead of the opposite which is Anthropic where all they talking about is killing everyone and taking everyone's job.
impulser_··on Xiaomi Mimo 2.6 live post-training dashboard
The Chinese labs are just making fun of the US labs at this point.

Where is the cool shit from the US labs?

impulser_··on Homebrew 7.0.0
Yeah, the combination with mise is what make this great.
impulser_··on Homebrew 7.0.0
You can use mise for install homebrew items btw so if you get a new computer you just drop the config.toml inside the mise and install.

This is all you have to add to the config file:

[bootstrap.packages]

"brew:git" = "latest"

"brew-cask:ghostty" = "latest"

impulser_··on A misalignment of AI in mathematics
Are we here to solve problems or are we here for prestige?

Who cares how the problems are solved?

impulser_··on Anthropic is lying: Moonshot is not routing to Claude
Maybe the Chinese app is different, but the Kimi app shows reasoning traces so how can they route the request to Claude models which don't show reasoning trace and still provide a reasoning trace on the UI?

So I think they are in fact just lying because it doesn't make sense why they would route requests to Claude over their own model.

impulser_··on DeepSeek v4.1 Flash
Not only compute, but more money and people.
impulser_··on DeepSeek v4.1 Flash
You should read their research papers
impulser_··on DeepSeek v4.1 Flash
I think it's very clear that DeepSeek is obviously the best AI lab in the world.

Every model release seems like it packed with wonderful research and advancements.

impulser_··on I resigned from Anthropic today
Ok, what do you think AI does that kills 8.5 billion people in 3 years?
impulser_··on I resigned from Anthropic today
So you think in 3 years AI is going to kill 8.5 billion people because they were used to hack into HuggingFace?
impulser_··on Nvidia agrees to acquire Hugging Face for $13B
I think they will be, Nvidia has released open source model that also included the data it was trained on. I think they are the only ones that have done that.
impulser_··on Starbase, LA
The government should give incentives to do things that benefit the future of the country. All auto manufactures had the same incentives but instead of building actual good vehicles they instead shipped more production to Mexico and continue to build the absolute most dog shit vehicles in the world.

Not a single US auto manufacturer, outside of Tesla, has a good EV, nor FSD. Waymo is buying thousands of Chinese cars because of how shit US car manufacturer are.

They are the worst of the worst. They shouldn't even be in business they are that bad at building cars which they literally invented.

impulser_··on OpenRouter is joining Stripe
It could be open in the literally sense of you aren't locked in, you have free access to any model you want.

Just because a name has open in it doesn't mean it has to be open source.

impulser_··on fx :Tiny, open, native coding agent.
I'm sorry, but this is pure slop. This has 26 tools and a tool for every single file operation and a tool for read tool output? What the fuck... And they call this minimalist.... Lmfao

The person who built this obviously has little understanding of harnesses.

You should have significantly less tools today with how good LLMs have become.

The start up time and binary size are quite literally the most useless stats to base a harness off of lol

Man what with Cloudflare, Vercel and all these tech companies just releasing pure slop.

Just use Pi. It's actually minimal and well thought out by people who actually understand agents.

impulser_··on GPT-5.6 Sol Pricing Cut by 50%
It's the complete opposite for me. The model might be the worst model I have ever used when compared to other models in the class. You just can't get it not to just write the most enterprise over complex over engineered solutions for every little thing you ask it to do.

It the first model to actually make me pissed off to use AI. I absolutely hate the model so much.

I don't even want to see the codebases this model is fucking up.

It might just be good at finding bugs that about it. That all I would ever use it for just because it works harder than Claude models.
