I would choose to give my children financial benefits instead of years of late life medicine, even if I could afford to live over 100.
They just have to make it bad enough.
Feedbin seems to permit receiving email newsletters as a feed, so that's one of the few making email into RSS, whereas the others all turn RSS into email.
Regarding length of ownership: so I make a fund which owns an LTSE-listed stock for a longer term, and people trade my fund instead.
Ultimately, neither of those things is much use, nor even necessary. A much stronger driver for long-termism would be to derive the dividend from the last 3 years of profits; since prices are estimates of future value and future dividend, the actual value of those would be smoothed; if any action can only make a small difference to the dividend, there is much less focus on quarterly results.
A formula or at least limits on dividends (no windfalls) would reduce the interest to activist investors who might see a pot of cash and seek to liberate it.
Presumably that could mean requirements on board memberships, dividend levels, types of employment perhaps? I find it a bit hard to see what stipulations they would have that aren't just good governance.
"The study found no statistically significant link between the risk of maternal mortality – which is also much higher for black and brown women – and the race of the mother’s doctor."
And it's great for all the reasons IRC is great, but everyone thinks it's all a totally new concept so they're just waiting for it to get its unicorn horn and start pissing cash money.
She approached the fork in the lane, wherein the choices led to Town and to the hamlet of Ruin.
Town held Rita's past and future, her torment and her only family. Ruin was several miles off, and on any other day she would only have glanced at that fork and dreamed. But today she had been given a wide brimmed hat by a pitying Lady, and instead of misery beneath the rags lay a tiny kernel of hope, sheltered from the rain.
As she neared the fork hope was fanned into anger, and into need, and into determination. For so many nights the rain had beat so hard against her face that she could barely see to walk, let alone to choose her path. But tonight she had just a few inches of respite, the luxury of seeing the fork for the choice it was.
Her fists clenched and her mouth set hard, her shuffle turned to a stride, and she chose her path, joining unknowingly every other shuffling wretch who before her had reached their last drop of hope and spent it taking the path to Ruin, where no one would dare to seek them.
For example, richer people fly, should we adjust for that?
I love these dim headlines
"Is there anything to eat? I'm so hungry I could eat a horsefly"
"That depends on how long we have to chase you around for"
Is it for me to fill out forms on random sites, in which case how is it an API? Or is it for the people with the forms to make it quicker to fill them out (which makes sense, but doesn't match the one line of blurb on the site)?
If it's for form filling, why is the word "doc" in the name, which I'd assume meant document rather than relating to form data or personal data.
Looking on the staging page it makes more sense, it seems to be for the companies who have the forms rather than the people who have to fill them in.
But does it take a pdf and generate an electronic form from it, or take filled-in forms and pull the data out of them?
Or is it for companies who have data to use to fill in forms from that data?
Just quite confused, tho maybe I wouldn't be if I was a company with forms.. or data..?
But yeah, zero cost compiler magic is the reason Rust is so good.

It points out that they look at data for 99% of US counties, which rules out a simplistic attribution of crime to population density, and describes some of the data cleansing. They also claim it corroborated findings elsewhere.
Since this is a data review presumably other centres can repeat the analysis to confirm the correlation result at least, and medical researchers could conceivably find a real experiment to establish causality.
