The reality is that there is not a lot of data on this. People always talk about fuel/energy cost but that is just one of many components. Also there is no conversation about full TCO cost especially on heavy duty side. I get it, emotionally we are exited about EVs but there is still a lot of work to make this sustainable. Source: my company provided data and support for NREL TCO analysis for LD ice vs ev vehicles.
Depends bit on audience and if you are managing other parts outside of notebooks. Like pipelines dags etc. notebooks can be tricky if you stuff too many responsibilities into them.
How about automatic idle mitigation systems? Just automate it on truck level. Cost is low and at scale would be very minimal. Also if you are worried about ambient cab temp, you should not be too worried.
Personally I am very exited about it but we lack data that does allow us to do proper TCO comparison of ICE vs EV on the heavy duty side. Also how does V2G economics actually work if you are trying to optimize for the lowest charging rate (usually during night to avoid peak)? If you are in V2G mode after 6 pm i assume you would need to start charging at night during cheapest rates and assure that the bus is charged by 5 am. Wouldn't this require 1 to 1 charger to bus ratio as you might not have enough time to swap? Wouldn't then infrastructure costs(chargers that are build and concrete around it) skyrocket?
Yes! Let’s document:
-time away from the internet(slow thinking)
-stick shifts
-food optimized for taste and not size or look(US view here)
- so many more
I also had a similar experience both on the US and Polish side. The US math exercises that I experienced through my niece were really much more focused on reading comprehension, but almost hoping that the student trips up. Maybe its because I am not a native speaker, but this seemed to be not constructive to the task at hand.
Other then underpaid like in the other comment another way is to expose yourself out of the bubble. Volunteering if done right can expose you out of it.
Thank you. I took it really slow and first few months I did IF and skipped breakfast. Then one time a week started skipping all meals in 24h period. Finally I got to the point were skipping meals for 48h was possible with water and bone broth if I am really hungry. All of this seemed impossible if I had something carby or sweet day before. For some reason it’s much easier if I have veggies/unsaturated fat and some protein. In terms of sleep I experienced same issue. I was so energetic and could not sleep as long. It went away 3ish weeks in.
I had a similar experience. In 2014 I was up + 40 lbs, started exercising and lifting heavy 4 to 5 times a week. I did clean my diet just a tiny bit and did loose 15 lbs or so. But amount of work was insane. Now in 2019 I started fasting and biking for fun and BAM! 25 lbs down with so little effort. I always struggled to do this. I always was amazed how people can eat clean and smaller portions constantly. For me not eliminating but minimizing sugar and carbs to some extent helped with cravings. Also just skipping a meal is so much easier now if I am not all carbed out! Also mentally fasting fits better for me. Life happens, I will eat cake :-) But after feast, there will be fast.
That is an interesting point of view. What if you choose to be no BS project manager or no BS product manager etc. Unless you mean the BS that comes from dealing day to day with humanity?
I am not sure why you are getting down voted but I did want to expand on this. I have a somewhat similar philosophy, though I still buy low value items from Amazon. What I discovered that online stores that have a truly seamless experience (for example well implemented apple pay etc) remove so much friction that the amazon option becomes less appealing. The issue is still with items that you would not know where to source from directly (like replacement part for a dishwasher) but these are usually low cost items anyway.
#2 is somewhat problematic. I would suggest finding someone in your organization that truly knows the business you are in and it’s day to day challenges. Identifying this person or people might be hard but it is crucial. Establishing true and open relationship with this person or group is the next step. It has to be genuine. Once that’s established you will see the stream of real pain points and it will be your job to map them into data science opportunities. An alternative option is to shadow day to day ops crew and distill requirements that way.
It looks like that the core team included: Marian Rejewski, Henryk Zygalski ,Jerzy Różycki. These were the most talented students from prof. Zdzisława Krygowski from UaM https://amu.edu.pl/ which is a university located in Poznan.
