ihatepython··on F-16 training for Ukrainian pilots successful: U.S. makes course “much shorter”
Another example might be brain surgery. Imagine a training course that will cross-train sushi-chefs to become brain surgeons.

The US is the aggressor. The neo-cons are de-stabilizing the world.

ihatepython··on Finland Becomes a Member of NATO on Tuesday 4 April
Read between the lines. They can't openly say that the US was responsible for Nordstream.
ihatepython··on Ask HN: What if AGI isn't that close?
I find it interesting that playfulness and joking is against the HN Code of Conduct
ihatepython··on AI-enhanced development makes me more ambitious with my projects
Yes
ihatepython··on AI-enhanced development makes me more ambitious with my projects
> Developers who use this for serious stuff, how goes your reasoning? Is it just a calculated risk? Reward is greater than the risk?

It seems obvious that AI is the future, and that ChatGPT is the most advanced AI ever created.

For me (in the medical industry), if something goes wrong and someone dies a horrible death, I can just say that I didn't write that code, ChatGPT did. Not my fault.

Next time you are at the hospital getting an MRI, I hope you think about how it's entirely possible that ChatGPT wrote the majority of the mission-critical code.

ihatepython··on AI-enhanced development makes me more ambitious with my projects
> How many colleagues could you ask "Can you write me a PoC for a horizontally scalable, probabilistic database in Rust, using Raft-based consensus?

I couldn't agree more. I work as a software engineer in the medical field (think MRI's, X-rays, that sort of thing). I've started using ChatGPT all the time to write the code, and then I just fix it up a bit. So far it's working great!

ihatepython··on A misleading open letter about sci-fi AI dangers ignores the real risks
I think you should focus more on the Borg, instead of "Data" with respect to the dangers of AI

The Borg were a great enemy, at least in the 2nd and 3rd season. The writers shouldn't have let the lowly humans defeat them.

ihatepython··on The 'Insanely Broad' Restrict Act Could Ban Much More Than Just TikTok
Can Americans talk about Hunter Biden's laptop? Is Matt Taibbi being targeted by the IRS because of the Twitter Files? Was it permitted to question COVID? Or the vaccines? Is it allowed to question the Russia-Ukraine war narrative and call it a proxy-war? Is it allowed to say that Zelensky is extremely corrupt and simply pocketing all the money? Is it allowed to talk about the Ukrainian nazis?

Are Americans allowed to vote on whether or not to give endless amounts of money to Ukraine?

And on and on

> The US is a bipartisan, democratic system where members of Congress can draft a proposal for a new law and send it to both the Senate and House for voting.

> It's a rigorous process with lost of scrutiny and debate.

Do you also still believe in Santa Claus?

ihatepython··on TikTok Ban Bill Is Patriot Act 2.0 Trojan Horse [video]
Pretty sure Zuckerberg loves this. He probably spent a lot of $$$ lobbying for this.

ihatepython··on EU countries approve 2035 phaseout of CO2-emitting cars
> Or maybe we should replace individual mobility with useful public transport

I'd really like to see more monorails being built. I believe monorails would be an excellent general solution.

ihatepython··on EU countries approve 2035 phaseout of CO2-emitting cars
> You'll own nothing. And you'll be happy! <- welcome to the new world. All cheap Dacias (cheap European car brand) will be gone. So the mobility for lower income people.

On the bright side, you will get to eat those delicious insects.

ihatepython··on EU countries approve 2035 phaseout of CO2-emitting cars
> So I need to actually "buy" a new vaccum cleaner. But this time I learnt the lesson, and I like cords now !

I had the same problem, but I decided to buy a diesel-powered vacuum cleaner.

ihatepython··on EU countries approve 2035 phaseout of CO2-emitting cars
> Whether EU itself will be still a thing in 12+ years to enforce this bullshit ban is another question.

You are correct, the EU is going to break up, definitely before 2035, and probably sooner rather than later. We are at the beginning of a serious financial crisis, this time it's a sovereign debt crisis, caused by going to negative interest rates in 2014 (among other reasons).

ihatepython··on EU was set to ban internal combustion engine cars, then Germany changed its mind
The US? Proxy war would be more accurate
ihatepython··on GNUstep compatibility with macOS Catalina almost complete
> will it work in 10 years[0] even if it uses some API that in the meanwhile Apple decided to change or it'll break?

Is 10 binary or decimal? Do you mean 2 years, or actually 10 years in base-10?

ihatepython··on Was there a tech-hiring bubble? Job postings data suggest so
If there weren't protests, then we would still be locked down. Government loves lockdown. It is wrong to refer to it as pre-pandemic as opposed to pre-lockdown. But you probably are still wearing a mask in your car when driving by yourself.

ihatepython··on Russian jet collides with US drone over Black Sea
You are correct. Anybody who says it is solely Russia's fault, and the US/NATO side are the good guys, don't remember the war with Iraq (weapons of mass destruction), Afghanistan, Vietnam, and all the other wars.

The problem is that the US is laying the groundwork to blame Covid on entirely on China, thereby letting Fauci, Gates, Pfizer et al off the hook, to justify confrontation/war with China.
