iampivot··on Hyundai Uni Wheel electric drive system could revolutionize EV design
I guess they will still need a cv joint, just because wheels get out of alignment all the time.

That aside, it would interesting if someone made a 3d model one could print to try this out at home for small robots.

Pretty sure apple makes you sign a paper saying that you agree to the device being wiped.
iampivot··on Microgravity-induced muscle atrophy: Implications for long-duration spaceflights
I wonder if it's really required to have 1g gravity in order to avoid this. It's much easier to artificially create, say 1/6g (moon) gravity by rotation than 1g, since rotational speed required is quite a bit slower.
iampivot··on Java 21 makes me like Java again
Coming from Spring Boot with it's 17+ level deep abstractions to Go / gin-gonic was such a breath of fresh air!

Lots of things are possible with wayland that was never possible with X11, just because it's a much more modern graphics stack; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNL6eIoksd8

Note that the XFree86 developers themselves have abandoned XFree86 development.

An inline search pane would be nice. Not because it's necessarily better, but it aligns with a lot of other tools that we use.

iampivot··on Venus is volcanically alive, new find shows
I'd assume they'd worry more about the daily 450 degrees temperature more.

Might be cooler at the poles.

iampivot··on EVs are far cleaner than gas-powered cars even if batteries require more mining
It will help us getting to a place where we don't pump up stuff from below ground which ultimately ends up as CO2 in the atmosphere. If we stopped pumping oil out of the ground, we would have left other CO2 sources which are from cyclical sources, and which we can deal with other ways.

iampivot··on Dear JetBrains, Don't mess with your UI
This one caught me out;

- "The toolbar has less icons now" - It's customisable, you can put whatever you want in there. Yes, with colourful icons.

I was wondering where the back / forward buttons were, but realised after a while that they can be put back in, just with some configuration.
