iamevn··on Magic: The Gathering Is Turing Complete (2019)
https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/3933484#paper

This deck has gotten cheaper in the last couple years, looks like it's currently $2400 to build.

iamevn··on X is now licensed for payment processing in a dozen U.S. states
You've described a good thing that I also believe is not "tracking" in the "stalking" sense but "tracking" in a surfacing publicly available data way.
iamevn··on Show HN: Scorecard.gg – minimalist scoring tool for your favorite board games
Can I contribute games I'd like to add? Or maybe run a local version customized for the games my group plays?
iamevn··on Plex Account Banned
As someone who has shared my library with many friends, this is concerning.
iamevn··on Google’s return-to-office push reportedly has a $99 hotel for workers
I think I've stayed there while visiting the Mountain View offices for training. They were nice accomodations but felt a bit strange to be in a hotel operated by my employer. I got to expense it then but I doubt people staying there for RTO will get the chance.
iamevn··on Berlin Review: LAN Party
meta: something is going wrong with this web page for me (Firefox Android) where it stops letting me scroll about 10 seconds after the page finishes loading. I'm really curious what it's doing.
iamevn··on Google is trialing tiled search results on mobile. You can’t turn them off
For some reason Firefox Android often freezes when interacting with tiles in Google search results (especially bad with image searches). It's really annoying.
iamevn··on GradIEEEnt half decent: The hidden power of imprecise lines [video]
Anything that catches your eye is good but my favorites are:

Reverse Emulating the NES to give it SUPER POWERS! https://youtu.be/ar9WRwCiSr0

iamevn··on Sidebery – A Firefox extension for managing tabs and bookmarks in sidebar
I'm curious about this too, I use TST at home and it's gotten really bad with how many tabs I have and how slow it is. I use Sidebery at work and it seems much better.
iamevn··on O.mg Cable
how do I validate my keyboard initially? how do I validate my mouse initially?

something would need special treatment that would be an attack surface.

iamevn··on Mojang Exits the Minecraft Subreddit
Perhaps https://old.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/14kj3z7/so_long_... would be a better link for this since it's the actual announcement from Mojang that the article linked from that post is about.
iamevn··on Android’s emergency call shortcut is flooding dispatchers with false calls
Accidentally triggered this while my phone's UI was locked up and was unable to cancel before it went through. It was slightly embarrassing and I hope I didn't waste too much of that dispatcher's time.
iamevn··on YouTube: Sort by oldest is back baby
On the android app at least, the video count is next to subscriber count below the name and above the description on the channel's page.
iamevn··on Unison Language and Platform Roadmap
The syntax is quite a bit like Haskell but that's mostly surface level here and imo it's quite it a bit simpler and easier to pick up. I'm curious what you mean by comparing it to Clojure when Unison is not really lispy at all.

Personally I found Unison easy to pick up the basics for despite being unfamiliar with Haskell beforehand (although underlying ideas of how to structure things took a bit of time for me to figure out).

iamevn··on Royal Mail issues Warhammer stamps celebrating 40 year anniversary
I've recently gotten into Necromunda which is a very fun skirmish game but horrible for how many books and minis you need to buy.
iamevn··on Japan will not enforce copyright laws on AI data training, says minister
It's disappointing to see reporting based on machine translations. Unfortunately it's not at all uncommon and many people will accept the gibberish mtl outputs at face value.
iamevn··on What's expected of us -Ted Chiang
One of my favorites of Ted Chiang's writing for how much is packed in such a short story.
iamevn··on Psychoactive substance use by professional programmers
I got off one at Google but ended up burning out and quitting anyways so not really a success.
iamevn··on Discord is changing their username system and ditching discriminators
lowercase alphanumeric only is going to make a lot of users with things like é, あ, or д in their name sad.

timing is good for me, my nitro is running out in a few days so I can just go ahead and cancel over this while the frustration over the change is fresh in my mind.

iamevn··on What, if anything, is epsilon? (2014) [pdf]
The paper, on the epsilon-delta: > This has nothing to do with the subject of the paper
iamevn··on Microsoft-branded mice and keyboards are going away after 40 years
for a long time I was convinced that the Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical was the perfect mouse. it didn't have fancy back/forward buttons but I am a lefty and those always felt funny to me anyways. I miss mine
iamevn··on Xanax and Adderall Access Is Being Blocked by Secret Drug Limits
My experience is that I feel significantly better when I am on my meds and am able to function consistently. I envy people who function well enough off their meds that they can be choosy about when they take them. I have no experience with meth but my understanding is that it is only superficially similar to meth.
iamevn··on Xanax and Adderall Access Is Being Blocked by Secret Drug Limits
I am prescribed to take one pill each day. I prefer to keep this up on the weekends because I like being able to function even when I'm not being paid to. I can only fill a prescription once a month. The pill bottles have 28 pills in them.

What possibly would be left over?

iamevn··on Procedural 3D mesh generation in a 64kB intro
Windows (presumably x86)
iamevn··on A Growing Number of Scientists Are Convinced the Future Influences the Past
How can I know that my memory of thinking of calling them wasn't formed after they called? I think that a similar thing happens to me when I feel like a dream predicted an event. It's probably just a really vague dream that didn't quite crystalize in my memory until after the thing it "predicted" occurs.
iamevn··on The American Diet Has a Sandwich Problem
> Each serving a day of processed meat is associated with a 42% increased risk of heart disease and a 19% increased risk of diabetes

The wording of this either is confusing or is a huge understatement. Does this mean that eating a serving a day for some time period correlates with a huge increase in heart disease and diabetes or, read literally, that each day you eat a serving of processed meat correlates to a huge increased risk (which would further increase across more days)?

iamevn··on Building a better world without jobs (2022)
If I didn't need to worry about basic necessities (including medical care) I would absolutely volunteer to do these sorts of things.
iamevn··on Google asks some employees to share desks amid office downsizing
I never bothered but it's definitely easy at google to expense your internet and I remember hearing about someone successfully expensing some amount of their electricity
iamevn··on Interesting subtitling of a video from the 1950s
This sort of thing is generally referred to as "Kinetic Typography". For example: https://youtu.be/U4rwlvMEoj0
iamevn··on Starting February 9, we will no longer support free access to the Twitter API
There have been no carveouts announced for SSO. I am migrating as many of my accounts on other websites as I can off of Twitter SSO because it seems likely to me that they'll stop working and I'd lose access to those accounts if I am not proactive.
