hyiltizon Reporter likely to be charged for using “view source” feature on web browser

Sounds like we must better educate people about what is public about the web.

hyiltizon Third High Severity CVE in Log4j Is Published

Haskell comes to mind?

I wonder if there will be a martyr in Youtube who will smuggle out all the dislike count data to benefit humanity.

hyiltizon Return YouTube Dislike - Extension

Storing the dislike counts for each user takes a binary state at the minimum, and a byte of storage typically. Considering the HUGE global user base, that would be too much data storage and maintenance required for a company like Google/Youtube to invest their resources in. It also improves user experience by minimizing the data transfer requied to consume products in the platform, thus improving the efficiency and speed in the platform.

It is for the best of the users, and is a great design for the user. User's will learn to love them in time.

hyiltizon Gallery-dl – download images from several image hosting sites

The call to curl is missing a closing " pair. Besides, it seems some people submit a low-res image at the post, then post another link as the first reply, which is the case today:

https://preview.redd.it/b2ihaxu2i5261.jpg?width=640&crop=sma...

Care to adjust the jq a bit to look for both, then maybe somehow compare the resolution of the two and download the better one?

hyiltizon Show HN: Nnn – unorthodox terminal file manager

I am having difficulty locating which is the first sentence you were referring to in the README.md, and what it has to do with the (what) slang.

hyiltizon The story of the PDF (2018)

It is a pity that DjVu[0] wasn't even mentioned; an open format that was superior to PDF in many ways[1], including better optimization, efficient storage.

hyiltizon Octotree – Proprietary Firefox extension contains AGPL-licensed code

The maintainer seems reluctant to come to senses, pity. https://github.com/ovity/octotree/issues/1041

Not only my issue got closed as a "spam", my account now has been blocked by "their organization". http://ix.io/2CCK/text

I really hope Github's learning and (job) recommendation algorithms do not take this into account.

hyiltizon Octotree – Proprietary Firefox extension contains AGPL-licensed code

If it is your own project, which doesn't depend on other's, then you can simply change it anytime you like if you decided GPLv3 no longer suited your needs. It is typically problematic when you are using someone else's program released under GPL; they released it under GPL hoping for what GPL entails.

hyiltizon Governments Worldwide Consider Ditching Daylight Saving Time

Care to share? I am sure that would be very useful for me (and probably many others).

hyiltizon SM2 (Chinese) National Secret algorithm is accepted into Linux kernel

You may also read this thread in the mailing list [0]. I may need to look up some more resources, but it seems to me that there wasn't a rigorous peer review for it. For example, compare it to merging SM4 into OpenSSL [1]. I would've thought that you'd need a few rounds of back and forth reviews mostly focused on cryptography and implementation such as possibilities of side channel attacks etc., not just some comments on style once.

hyiltizon KaTeX – The fastest math typesetting library for the web

Would mathematical[0] satisfy at least the first two requirement? I just found about it from the MathJax post today.
