httgp··on PostgreSQL 14
I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am for this!
httgp··on A monk in 14th-century Italy wrote about the Americas
That, and if they were African or European.
httgp··on Terraform is not the golden hammer
Bingo. While I see some valid complaints about Terraform in the comments, most of them seem to come from a place of not fully understanding how it works or the features it offers.
httgp··on The journey to controlling external monitors on M1 Macs
Do you mind sharing the exact model number of your LG monitor? And is text as sharp as the Retina display?
httgp··on Ask HN: What Are You Learning?
Deno! I’m a long-time Node.js and Python developer, and I’m excited about writing TypeScript that can finally compile into a single binary; very useful for building CLIs.

Deno’s locked-down permission system and wide support of browser APIs is really cool, and they’ve been cooking up some really cool stuff (see their new Deploy cloud service).

httgp··on Astro: Ship Less JavaScript
This looks super-exciting. Will you be building plugins or examples that show how to use this with other frameworks like Next.js/Nuxt.js?
httgp··on Google Lighthouse V8 – Improved CLS metrics
Thanks for building it! I use it on my personal website and it’s been really good.
httgp··on Parcel 2 Beta 3 – improved build performance
Great news, but that PR just got merged a few hours ago!

httgp··on Pulumi 3.0
Folks generally use Ansible to launch and configure stuff; it is better suited for that kind of work.
httgp··on Show HN: React Flow – library for creating node based editors and apps
I think it will be constructive if you can provide the authors some alternative terms they could use instead.
httgp··on Django 3.2
Check out https://chakra-ui.com
httgp··on Next.js 10.1
They often compile stuff and just check it into their tree.
httgp··on The new browser-based puppeteer REPL, and how we built it
Does this run Puppeteer on Lambda/Docker? One thing that I’m struggling to do is run Chromium on AWS Lambda as the new container image.
httgp··on Arrow v1.0: After 8 years, even better dates and times for Python
That is probably intentional to keep the core small and lightweight. You can try bundling all the plugins you use during build if you want to reduce the number of fetches.
httgp··on Deno 1.7: 60% reduction in standalone binary size
Congratulations on shipping this release! Cross-compilation and lite binaries are fantastic features and will finally let JS/TS devs ship CLI tools!
httgp··on Show HN: 128-bit, roughly-ordered, URL-safe UUIDs
How does one generate ordered UUIDs right on the PostgreSQL server?
httgp··on Zero-Bundle-Size React Server Components
You actually can build nested layouts in Next.js — see https://adamwathan.me/2019/10/17/persistent-layout-patterns-...

Yes, but this isn’t an option that is readily available to everyone.

httgp··on Facebook/Zstandard – Fast real-time compression algorithm
I’m hoping browsers adopt this as a compression standard too, just like Gzip and Brotli.
httgp··on Facebook/Zstandard – Fast real-time compression algorithm
Hey I made the original feature request to add support for Zstd on the KafkaJS repo about 2 years ago! I no longer work at a place that uses Kafka, but I just wanted to say KafkaJS was a brilliant piece of software and IMHO the best Node.js library for working with Kafka!
httgp··on How India Censors the Web
I just wish there was an iOS client for Intra.
httgp··on Investigating TLS Blocking in India
It isn’t clear from the article, but how do we circumvent this? Would a VPN work?
httgp··on Show HN: Fully Open-Sourced Online MIDI Editor
It could be because Firefox reduced time precision to fend off fingerprinting and timing attacks. To turn it on, you’d need to set the Cross-Origin-Opener-Policy to “same-origin” and the Cross-Origin-Embedder-Policy to “require-corp”. httgp··on Jio’s phone will run Android and cost about $54
You should still worry about other parties having access to your data. Your local police can possibly request and get access to that data from those parties.
httgp··on Vue.js 3
Wait they’ve announced a date? The Webpack 5 project board on GitHub still has a bunch of items not done yet.
httgp··on Winamp Skin Museum
Not to mention the insane licensing laws governing what music I can listen to. For example, I can’t listen to any Muse tracks on Spotify in India.
