Absolutely false. Set and setting are crucial.

hericium··on There was nothing “wasted” about my youth spent clubbing on ecstasy (2021)
> I'd say that whatever they're doing, it seems to be fairly effective.

It's a police state with an ongoing alcohol prohibition, tremendous amount of road blocks in the capital and night club bouncers having to have basic police training. Compared to Estonia where there's almost no cops visible, no no-go zones and very little crime - Sweden isn't doing that well.

You may need special permits to move scheduled substances across borders. ADHD meds can even be problematic between EU states.

> This article doesn't really explain _why_ eating earlier is supposedly better.

I feel like it's a personal preference and I only eat later in a day, but here[1] you may find some explanations on why eating in the morning may be better.

hericium··on The Slow Death of Surveillance Capitalism Has Begun
I doubt it. Ads aren't the only thing driving spyware surveillance. Governments benefit from it, too. EU is cutting the information flow to the US, while creating it's own Great Firewall at the same time.

BTW, the term was crafted by Shoshana Zuboff, author of "The Age of Surveillance Capitalism"[1]

hericium··on Legal use of hallucinogenic mushrooms begins in Oregon
> I don't know why it's illegal to partake of whatever substance/plant/medicine I choose to partake in, anyways.

You could start thinking outside the frames your government and/or religious leaders wants you to to keep between.

hericium··on Legal use of hallucinogenic mushrooms begins in Oregon
Substances are tested and when it is found that they have beneficial effects on certain conditions, outweighing negative side-effects in individuals with these conditions - they are accepted for use after clinical phases.

Would you rather have no meds for some conditions because we don't fully understand how existing ones work, or would you dissect living humans' brains for faster research?

hericium··on Legal use of hallucinogenic mushrooms begins in Oregon
Psychiatry barely understands HOW exactly many prescription meds work so don't expect exact answer on how non-prescription substances work.

But if approached properly, single session with psychedelics may have beneficial effects of months or even years of psychotherapy. Week or two after such session you start noticing that some things simply stopped being problematic.

hericium··on NY Sabotages Right to Repair Bill [video]
I wasn't referring to this particular case. Mentioned what I read in the past about (city) mayors and (state) governors and how to me - an outsider from the EU - it's these people who make New York similar to Gotham City.

Short answer: because I don't read about them.

hericium··on NY Sabotages Right to Repair Bill [video]

I've got my Uber "user rating" reduced more than once after asking a driver to switch their radio from adverts to a station with music. I only asked this after multiple adverts in a row but it seems drivers like their radio stations.

I rarely enter a taxi(-like) without my headphones.

hericium··on Existing smartphones will connect with new satellite constellations in 2023
> This super-villain narrative of Musk is hilariously comical. Where is it coming from?

For me it came from Musk downplaying COVID for financial gain.

Other than that, he's become proficient at discrediting himself as a reasonable, trustworthy person and presenting himself as a detached from reality lunatic who doesn't know when to stfu and how to behave.

When people like this have a lot (too much?) power that's when the super-villain vibe comes in.

They may be paying to be the first option in "choose your email provider" lists. Although Apple's Mail.app (both iOS and macOS) offers their own and Microsoft's services before Google's.

For Google, the easiest way to gain new GMail users is to not deliver mail coming to existing users from 3rd party services or to throw it into trash/spam folders for no reason.
