haute_cuisine··on GPT‑6 and Intelligent UI for everyone
In the video, they showed examples of ChatGPT making interactive tutorials on how to fold origami, how to arrange colours/interior and how to assemble a bike.

Supposedly, people were struggling to follow written manuals and they needed an interactive explanations.

I'm not a mathematician and I would certainly love having a tool that would do ELI5 on some complex stuff, but I'm really worrying about using this too often and outsourcing my ability to do stuff to some mega corp.

haute_cuisine··on Denmark data breach exposes 8.8M people's personal data
Claude, calculate salaries, make no mistakes. (they probably forgot the last part)

I wonder if company used some kind of automation that decided it needs all CPRs for whatever it was doing.

haute_cuisine··on Study: Young users (9 to 18Y) ditch Google for AI, with unknown consequences
I definately see value in getting tailored plausalbe answers without applying much effort, except effort, struggle and experimentation are required for learning and understanding.

I found that I can't really trust this knowledge becuase I skipped the source and didn't conclude it myself. Like how I can learn anything when being spoon fed with conclusions and summaries without accessing the source?

haute_cuisine··on I said no and Apple said yes
This is a very interesting shift with Apple where customers are starting to perceive it as hostile company.
haute_cuisine··on Introducing System One Models and Jev
Thanks for the demo. It plays very bad and blunders pieces on every move.
haute_cuisine··on We must pace the frontier
ant/openai already keep their most advanced models behind closed doors and only share previous generation to the public
haute_cuisine··on Thanks to Siri Recaps, your Apple Watch is always listening
With "use it or loose it" brain feature, I don't really want my natural recap skill to atrophy to make me dependent on this sort of tech. Not considering that they can secretly ship other monitoring features to constantly scan for certain discussions.
haute_cuisine··on Ask HN: How do you survive a job you hate which is slowly making you sick?
Lookup "moe kapil" series on YT. It might help to re-examine the perspective.
haute_cuisine··on Dropbox Data Breach
Hardware shops can't do software, software shops can't do hardware. Just never put any hardware company in secure sensitive software related flows.
haute_cuisine··on Get your Windows license refund
I see any device as hardware + software. I think, it would be better to allow other companies to compete and offer a replacement for each part.

Apple can claim "we offer vertical integration" because we make both for each other, but you should be able to buy hardware or software independently of each other.

If MS sells they own laptops with bundled windows, they will have an incentive to make adjustments so other hardware products are less competitive. Long term, we'll end up with Apple/MS monopoly on devices where you don't have a vote on how your system works and what data it sends to whom.

This means that it should be possible to install any OS on readers / phones / laptops / consoles and vote with your own money against shovelware (hello, smart TVs).

haute_cuisine··on Get your Windows license refund
It's unfair that apple gets an easy pass on this, as well as any mobile device.
haute_cuisine··on Ask HN: Why are Claude models so verbose?
Why would LLMs be concise and to the point? There is no truth in these machines.

p.s. You've just discovered a load bearing seam with your dossier and have a right to push back on this.

haute_cuisine··on Asus Bike Booster
Would it make a seat tube a load bearing here? I imagined setting it up on a carbon bike
haute_cuisine··on Kill The Cookie Banner
You don’t need a cookie notice if you don’t track. We also had “do not track” is safari.
haute_cuisine··on Running Gemma 4 26B at 5 tokens/sec on a 13-year-old Xeon with no GPU
How are the thermals? I noticed that running any serious workload locally heats system fast.
haute_cuisine··on Ask HN: Should I Promote My SaaS to get first 100 Customers without budget
marketing is pay to play
haute_cuisine··on Anthropic banned my thirteen 20x accounts, what now?
Author wrote that opus required too much handholding, to host opus locally (aka glm 5.2) you need $50k in hardware (or $3k/mo to rent a slow server) or just buy tokens from hoster.
haute_cuisine··on What if users start cloning SaaS using AI
This doesn’t work now unfortunately as described. Cloning is multi-months effort and it’s hard even when you know what you’re doing. If you want to have a sellable clone, it’s even harder challenge as users wouldn’t tolerate sloppy work when better alternatives exist.
haute_cuisine··on Ask HN: What is your go-to prompt to prove AI can be wrong?
I'm curious, why exactly output is non-deterministic? Static weights + matrix multiplication should always return the same output, right?
haute_cuisine··on Road to Elm 1.0
The point is the same as in pre-LLM.
haute_cuisine··on Ask HN: Is WordPress the best way to create new websites for beginner
If you want a simple website for beginner, you don't need wordpress or any other page generator. You can just write a simple `index.html` and upload it to any static website hoster (ex: github/gitlab pages).
haute_cuisine··on Ask HN: Yahoo deleted all my emails. Now what?
If mail is deleted, the deletion could have synced to your email client as well.
haute_cuisine··on Tell HN: I never bought anything from clicking on a paid ad
Will expensive ads instead push out the honest products with fair prices? Only casinos/betting/high margin will be able to afford expensive ads.
haute_cuisine··on Siri AI
When there're no real use-cases or solved problems, they have to come up with some fillers, probably Claude suggested this slide.
haute_cuisine··on Microsoft's open source tools were hacked to steal passwords of AI developers
Please, someone explain how it's possible to add obfuscated file to so many repositories? Do they don't have any code reviews?

Also, the title is misleading, setup adds config to be auto executed by people who work on the repo. They would have to use vscode/cursor/claude/gemini. People who use codex / opencode / other harnesses are safe I guess.

haute_cuisine··on GitLab announces workforce reduction and end of their CREDIT values
Can someone explain why they're using terms like "voluntary separation window" instead of more natural language?
haute_cuisine··on GitLab announces workforce reduction and end of their CREDIT values
> We’re reducing our country footprint because operating in nearly 60 countries does not allow us to give every team member a great experience

Are they going to rectify this by laying these people off?

haute_cuisine··on Ask HN: How did you get your first users with zero audience?
