hateduser2··on How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the State Machine
How is being able to detect circular references a useful skill?

You are not necessarily the master of your own truth

hateduser2··on Who's Missing from America's Colleges? Rural High School Graduates
Whether or not it’s surprising is kind of besides the point no? It’s still a problem and to get it fixed the first step is to draw attention to it.
hateduser2··on Are Monads a Waste of Time?
Think you should tone it down a little, whether or not I agree
hateduser2··on Are Monads a Waste of Time?
Yea to me his comment reads as a whiplash to realizing some of the downfalls of haskell. But he seems like he takes it way too far.
hateduser2··on Maybe you don't need Rust and WASM to speed up your JS
It seems less reliable to learn is optimization quirks, since you’re depending on an (infrequently changing?) implementation detail. Also writing those things sounds muh messier and less maintainable. All heuristic points I’m making.
hateduser2··on Please, do not install every shit
Is having 100 dependencies bad?
hateduser2··on Please, do not install every shit
I don’t believe you are representative of a normal user

hateduser2··on I've never felt less in control of my own hardware
There is on iOS
hateduser2··on Deep reinforcement learning doesn't work yet
You don’t understand that quote. It’s saying 70% of the time when people think reinforcement learning is the solution it’s not. Not saying that 30% of all problems are solvable by reinforcement learning. Sometimes I can’t tell if people here you included are intentionally misreading things to further their agenda.
hateduser2··on Uber and Waymo Reach Settlement
It doesn’t matter, but for the record I don’t think you’re right to assert this is uncivil. I didn’t write it pejoratively, I thought he was focusing on an extraneous detail and missing the bigger picture, which is (imo) the meaning of obtuse. I think if you’re in battle mode then you’d be inclined to take it as an insult, but I don’t think it must be one (and I don’t think it’s wise to write as though everyone’s in battle mode - to cater to that)
hateduser2··on Uber and Waymo Reach Settlement
Is this uncivil? I can see why its unsubstantive (Although my parent wasnt exactly substantive either). Whether or not its against the rules - do you understand my point?
hateduser2··on Reddit Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian Steps Aside, Focuses on Initialized Capital
You’re going to get in trouble for using the words “on both sides”

I don’t think hacker news would say this but many would: “one side is literally Nazis”.. not a very thoughtful complaint

hateduser2··on SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy successfully launches
Seems to me like you’re focusing on the word stupid which is actually fair in this context
hateduser2··on Retrospective: Looking Glass
Theres no pleasing everyone. There will always be people who reject them.
hateduser2··on An Italian Song That Sounds Like English But Is Nonsense
Nope, 700+ now
hateduser2··on Algorithmic decision making and the cost of fairness (2017)
On a topic like this it’s important I think to address the elephant in the room. I don’t think this implies a genetic issue! I’m not an expert but from what I know this shouldn’t lead me to the conclusion that “black Americans are predisposed to violence” and, if you know approximately the same things I do, I think that’s probably fair for you too!
hateduser2··on Ending Bitcoin Support
And what is jewelry’s worth? What is fine arts worth? What is fiat currency worth? The world is chock full of goods with no inherent value. None. Fine art is worth a lot BECAUSE it is worth a lot.

Kim kardashian is famous for being famous. It’s clear the world is not utilitarian.

hateduser2··on Can staying awake beat depression?
Sustained sleep deprivation by lithium doesn’t sound any better than sleep deprivation by literal lack of sleep.
hateduser2··on What’s So Dangerous About Jordan Peterson?
Why would you want to copy her body language? Is your natural body language mute and unemotional? That sounds like a bigger problem.
hateduser2··on Why is Rust difficult?
So your issue isnt about rust, its about changing popularity and language trendiness?
hateduser2··on Google, You Creepy Sonofabitch
Well I feel like it’s kind of easy to guess what they mean. I’m sure it’s related to spying and data hoarding and tracking and privacy issues and their incentives are highly misaligned and encourage unethical anti consumer behavior.
hateduser2··on Firefox’s new streaming and tiering compiler
Why can’t you just cache it with a hash?
hateduser2··on Firefox’s new streaming and tiering compiler
They’re adding gc and dom support to wasm
hateduser2··on Firefox’s new streaming and tiering compiler
They’re adding all those things to wasm. I think you’re mistaken about the future.
hateduser2··on Superheroes don’t work 90-hour weeks
Isn’t that most places? It kind of makes sense, because actual productivity isn’t necessarily the easiest to measure (although I think it comes across just in attitude.. how much they care about he project.)
hateduser2··on It can all go to zero
Because people unfailingly pushback against it. The pushers should start their push acknowledging that it is possible if it’s really such an elementary claim to them.
