gsanderson··on Google Chrome update will close the door on ad blockers
Helium has been the closest I've found. It comes with uBlock Origin. It is based on Chromium though, so not sure if the manifest v2 removal will break that.
gsanderson··on The X-Files has made me nostalgic for a time I never experienced
One of the all-time great shows. Mythology episodes mixed in with the "monster of the week" ones for the casual viewers. The music was also pretty special. Each episode was like a mini feature film.
gsanderson··on Bunny Database
I'd like it too. The new docs do refer to it e.g:

> When S3 compatibility is enabled (currently in beta), the number of available replication points is reduced

I assume it's a private beta.

gsanderson··on Show HN: Basecoat – shadcn/UI components, no React required
Looks great!

One suggestion would be adding a focus trap, such as when a Dialog opens. It's nice to use the tab key to move around the Dialog (inputs and buttons). Currently focus leaves to the page behind. It might be as simple as adding https://alpinejs.dev/plugins/focus#x-trap

gsanderson··on The FTC puts off enforcing its 'click-to-cancel' rule
Regulation? Unfortunately this administration is going in the opposite direction.
gsanderson··on Trump exempts phones, computers, chips from ‘reciprocal’ tariffs
Thought I'd check to see how his memecoin is currently doing. It's exactly as expected.

I wonder how many of his supporters bought at $70 ...

gsanderson··on Trump temporarily drops tariffs to 10% for most countries
I assume because of Peter Navarro (and of course Ron Vara).
gsanderson··on Trump temporarily drops tariffs to 10% for most countries
Baffles me too. His ignorance is astonishing.
gsanderson··on Trump temporarily drops tariffs to 10% for most countries
I think it's because it's one thing he can control all by himself. Look at all the attention he's receiving. The "will he/won't he" reality TV. Put a tweet saying X%. No, they won't be cancelled. Yes I'm suspending them for 90 days. And so on.
gsanderson··on Trump temporarily drops tariffs to 10% for most countries
Yep, apparently that's in the works. They aren't going to reduce the deficit or debt. It soared during Donald's first term and will again.
gsanderson··on Trump temporarily drops tariffs to 10% for most countries
Donald is weak. He was always going to fold. Once China and the EU called his bluff and retaliated, he was done. Lasted less than 24 hours.
gsanderson··on Wall Street stocks tumble as investors fret over US economic slowdown
This. He was playing a character. People think it was a documentary.
gsanderson··on X Algorithm Feeds Users Political Content Whether They Want It or Not
You need to use the block option, relentlessly. There's loads of garbage on there but you can clear much of it away. See it -> block it -> done.
gsanderson··on Wordpress.org Login: "I am not affiliated with WP Engine in any way"
Wow that's petty.
gsanderson··on Kamal Proxy – A minimal HTTP proxy for zero-downtime deployments
I haven't tried it but it looks like Xata has come up with a neat solution to DB migrations (at least for postgres). There can be two versions of the app running.

gsanderson··on Gaining access to anyones Arc browser without them even visiting a website
Yikes.

I tried Arc a while ago but switched back to Chrome. Quite glad I did now.

gsanderson··on Bypassing airport security via SQL injection
Like something you'd see in a movie and think "well, that could never really happen". Yikes.
gsanderson··on Magic UI: UI Library for Design Engineers
Pretty ... but using it my CPU fan sounds like a jet about to take off.
gsanderson··on Ask HN: Cloudflare Workers are down?
My sites have started coming back up now. Their site has also just started working again (previously got a 500): https://pages.cloudflare.com/
gsanderson··on Ask HN: Cloudflare Workers are down?
Yep, same for me :(
gsanderson··on Streaming Databases: Everything You Wanted to Know
Yep, "504 Gateway Time-out" for me too. Ah well.
gsanderson··on Rewriting wipEout
Impressive. Really smooth. Brings back memories!
gsanderson··on PlanetScale Scaler Pro
The blog post shows both the Scaler and Scaler Pro plan supporting up to 10,000 concurrent connections: https://planetscale.com/blog/announcing-scaler-pro#scaler-pr...
gsanderson··on Hacking around the Twitter login thing
You don't even need an extension. Open Developer Tools and find the appropriate option. For example in Chrome, there's a "Network Conditions" panel. Change to e.g "Googlebot" in the dropdown. Seems to work, at least for now.
gsanderson··on Submarine missing near Titanic used a $30 Logitech gamepad for steering
Ah, I remember watching that travel show episode. It takes on a whole new perspective now.
gsanderson··on Storage on Vercel
I would guess for people who want Redis? As I recall Cloudflare KV is more limited and wouldn't be a suitable drop-in replacement.
gsanderson··on Space Elevator
Me too! They are always great.
gsanderson··on Show HN: APIRank.dev – We crawled and ranked public APIs from the internet
There seem to be some duplicates: the BBC Nitro API is listed three times in the first 100 results for me. Perhaps it has different versions?
gsanderson··on Twitter was down
Yep, something has gone very wrong. New images are also returning the same error. I assume the person that used to fix such things has been fired.
gsanderson··on Gossip Glomers: Fly.io Distributed Systems Challenges
".. represented by two separate yet equally important groups ...". Cue the Law and Order intro in my head. I like it.
