I'm a game developer and we put more effort into keeping our game fair than this company does in keeping it's users safe. They should be sued into oblivion.
People will always want their laptop/tablet/phone batteries to last longer, and if makers of those devices know that consumers associate ARM with power efficiency, they will want to take advantage of that.
But the platform does have their costs to cover, they contribute to discoverability & host all the videos. But yes, creating good quality videos is a full time job that isn't compensated simply by relying on ad money.
I'm alright watching adds to see that resource remain free. I'm even alright with them not showing me videos if they detect I have my ad blocker on. That seems fair to me.
I use firefox and have ublock origin turned on everywhere else on the web.
I do think though that they should be separated from Google.
While it may not impact transatlantic flights, if the eruption is large enough it could impact flights from & to Keflavik airport, but again there's little chance of that due to the predicted eruption site being on the east of a ridgeline, which should mean that there will be less lava flowing west.

I feel like if as a company you've made something that's easily copyable, then that's your problem.
Successful products are both popular & hard to replicate

This functionality is available already on Kindle though :) you have the option of uploading your own dictionaries to it too.
That, combined with using https://www.clippings.io/ to manage highlighted text, makes the kindle an all round great tool for learning languages from books, or any text really. (you can use calibre to convert into and between most ebook formats)
I look forward to seeing where this goes! I imagine the really difficulty will be applying it to more than just German. Especially when you branch outside of indoeuropean languages
