goodmitton··on Ask HN: Who is Hiring? (January 2012)
I think you can increase your ROI if you spelled out San Francisco.
goodmitton··on Freemium Model
I looked at your profile, are you refering to theweddinglens.com?
goodmitton··on Starbucks to Offer Free Wi-Fi Service
I've been using their free wifi for a while now and I don't ever recalling them charging me.
goodmitton··on Aviary launches Music Creator
Is it just me or do some of birds look like pokemon. The blue one looks like articuno and the red one looks like moltres.
goodmitton··on Jason Fried: The pleasure of an open schedule
Good idea, but make the workdays of everyday shorter so you still get same amount of hours of work done each day. I much prefer this method since whatever you were working on is still fresh in your head.
goodmitton··on Ask HN: Who's Hiring?
Did my eyes just deceive me or did you guys remove the reducible word challenge a few minutes ago?
goodmitton··on Ask HN: Where are the bar/coffee shop programmers go to in SF city?
What's the address of this Epicenter?
goodmitton··on Things That Annoy Programmers
Also, some editors have their own rule for how many spaces a tab makes - some use 3 and some use 4 - or if you're like my designer co-worker, you manually use the space bar arbitrary. Gave me a big headache when looking for matching css selectors.
goodmitton··on How the Twitter "Force Follow" Bug was Discovered
I'm surprised that something so simple took so long to surface.
goodmitton··on Patrick McKenzie (patio11)'s Mixergy Interview
Two of my favorite people on the web in one place!
goodmitton··on Reboot PHP: keep the philosophy, improve the syntax (PHP on the JVM)
the $ is perhaps my favorite feature. I love being able to easily scan the code which parts are variables, and which parts are strings. This comes in really handy when your page has php, js, and html hacked together because you can more easily tell what language the code you are reading is in.
goodmitton··on Let’s Admit Why There Are So Many “Job Hoppers” In Startupland
Although that's most likely true, unfortunately, based on my research, I haven't seen anywhere that says that is an acceptable answer. I know. Sad isn't it?
goodmitton··on Is My Credit Card Stolen? (A ruse to educate people about phishing)
Okay, that explains why I couldn't understand what you guys were talking about and all I got was a "Warning: Suspected phishing site!"
goodmitton··on Ask HN: Best place for business cards?
All the free selected design reminds me of Microsoft clip arts.
goodmitton··on The advantages of programming on a small netbook
My experience found the opposite to be true.
goodmitton··on Why People Don’t Upgrade Their Browser – Part IV
You're facing an uphill battle of convincing the HN community when you say "IE is the best out of the modern browsers."
goodmitton··on McAfee quarantines svchost.exe on millions of WinXP machines worldwide
I don't understand how even having a 20% detection rate isn't better than 0%. Am I missing something? Are there a lot of viruses popping over the net that even the 20% detection is already too late?
goodmitton··on So You'd Like to Send Some Email (Through Code)
Sending emails has always been a problem for me. The email either gets placed in their spam box (people with aol and yahoo) or the email never arrive there at all (people with comcast and sbc emails). Does anyone have more additional information on how to fix this?
goodmitton··on 100 years ago, people paid money to see a fat man in a circus sideshow.
Based on that trend, we'll be expected to see 'the 2000 pound man' next.
goodmitton··on The Dangers of Building on Someone Else's Platform
Although it's risky, building on top of another platform reduces your marketing time by greatly since you get free eyeballs already. Plus its more rewarding to build something that succeeded but getting screwed by a new TOS than it is to build something and waiting to get an audience and never succeeding. In other words, it's better to fail early or succeed early than it is to be in neither.
goodmitton··on Is Computer Science Too Big For One Degree
Sounds like a great idea. Maybe this will wake employers or even non technical people up that graduating with a computer science degree doesn't always (and usually they shouldn't have to) know everything from computer graphics, database management, system administration, application programming, and fixing your broken computer.
goodmitton··on The Myth Of Creativity
I frequently see "think outside the box" on many job postings on craigslist as if you can either have it or you don't type of attitude.
goodmitton··on [dead]
I rather it'd be a pie chart or a bar graph so I wouldn't have to scroll up and down the page to compare different companies.
