I considered a lung plus but the risk of tripping while running and it hitting my teeth made me buy a mask instead which also covers the nose. Icicles form on that too though.
Maybe when going fast on a bike, they'd cool down faster. I remember from ice skating below 0C that if I didn't wear sports glasses, my eyes would hurt afterwards in the warm dressing room. I've always attributed that to them "thawing" although that's probably not literally what they do.
I agree that looks and deskspace is not something to optimize for and number entering is great on the number pad, but the ergonomics expert at my job informed us that shorter hand travel to the mouse is better against straining or something, so not using numpads would help. Or move the mouse/trackpad to the left.
Still, I was surprised when someone told me the rule was "at least two opponent players between you and the goal line" instead of only one. I had never thought of the keeper.
Ha, I learned about no soap on HN some years ago, a HNer claiming their lovers thought the no-soap skin smelled great. I guess it's likely that other bacterial species may thrive on your skin when not washing with soap (soap washing would remove more bacteria, only allowing fast-multiplying bacteria to repopulate the area, while water-washing would leave more different species). Not sure if the microbiome difference is better/healthier/nicer smelling. I jumped at the "my lovers loved it" recommendation and gave it a try (still used shampoo, no success excluding that, washed hands, used deodorant and paid extra care to smelly areas), and the armpits definitely smelled differently (but hardly like flowers) after a while of this practice, __to me__. As pointed out already, that may be have been my olfaction getting used to my newly acquired BO, like not noticing the smell of your own house, but others' houses smell different. My post-training clothes still smelled terrible.
There have been some no-soap discussions on HN and I think a user called graeme described something similar, some years ago.
I've tried not using shampoo but it was mainly rough and then I gave up (too early?). Anyway, I also wonder about possible benefits in not using detergents for skin biome (including a nicer odour), so soap is for my hands (interfaces with potential pathogens) and greasy stuff. The rest is easily cleaned with water.
Not that my statistics knowledge is great, but I wonder why they don't show fig.4 with SD bars? (Or if the plot represents the model, show the data points the model was fitted to?)
Exactly. The paper itself concludes somewhat softer that "children may be a potential source of contagion in the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in spite of milder disease or lack of symptoms"
The patient group consisted of "children ... presenting to urgent care clinics or being hospitalized for confirmed/suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection or multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children", so they are pre-selected , making the role of the full amount of children in the population in spreading harder to know.
AFAIK it depends on how long lived the antibody response is. Memory cells can last different amounts of time for different infections, or (like for certain calicivirus infections?) hardly develop at all. Have no nice paper on hand to back this up though. But if it's a short lived response (as in years, not decades), it's good to be freshly exposed and like another commenter said, kids get colds all the time. And likely parents of young children too (I know I did). Maybe that helps?
I had never heard that about sunlight before, but if true, it seems impractical to roll out ICU beds into the sun. (Not sure if patients outside of hospital would need blood thinning of course.)
Edit: read too quick when typing "outside of hospital", ambulantory care has nothing to do with ambulances.
Maybe I'm misreading your comment, but the outcome of quarantining measures is not only monetary. If the economy suffers more to solve the current crisis, more people will die because of secondary effects. I guess that is included in the calculations.
Actually, while indeed heavier, I was surprised that my 2018 13" fit in the sleeve of my older 11" MBA. A bit snug, but the screen width seems to have expanded inside the frame. And yes, while the widths are fairly similar, the depths are not.
Maybe I'm mixing my timelines but when was this? I thought the N9 was released a couple of years after the first iphone? Around the time there was iphone4?
Not sure if you're being intentionally ironic about "not a narcissist but perfect" :).
I'd echo the rest of your comment with my MD friend's "narcissists can't be treated, they think there is no problem and pointing out what they are doing only makes them think that their behaviour is actually good...".
Not that I know much about fasting, but by fasting you mean you skip breakfast, eat healthy and that's it? That sounds like a lot lower hanging fruit than I thought it'd be, thanks!
This sounds awesome. I'm held back a bit, I have always been warned against working less than a full workweek, since it would presumely substantially harm my (European) retirement build-up (unless I would make a lot more money than I currently do). I have never investigated yet, but would before cutting working hours.
Some years ago I read an article through HN by someone who did their programming on an ipad through SSH (and bluetooth mac keyboard) and ditched the laptop. Pictures of croissants in the sun outside in Munich. Got me very inspired.
But in the end I decided on a stationary box at work/home, and a MB Air for when not at the desk (or on the sofa). Works great and doesn't weigh much anyway. The main problem with the tablet was that were always things I was missing that I hadn't thought about when moving to iPad. Maybe it'd be better with another brand, but I'm not bothering now.

I dont think an anti to-do list makes me more productive. But I sure like to keep a log of things done in a text file so I can find what I did later. There is of course a limit to what I keep, but even one-liners etc can be stored in it. Especially when used seldomly, I dont remember all the bash tools invocations. And no, I wont "tear it up and throw it away".
I guess in earlier days they used the form they found appropriate and didnt think about it much more. Also, as much as you and I like it, the gender-neutral pronoun in swedish is relatively modern enough for it to be yet hardly used in everyday communication (YMMV of course).
I have to try this. But how does it work out for you when you "have to" be up late, e.g. at social activities? I imagine yawning my way through a late dinner, falling asleep at the cinema.
