glbrew··on CDC considers lowering threshold level for lead exposure
Yeah, they should lower the threshold from Detroit to Cleveland.
glbrew··on Tesla footage of braking before crash ahead [video]
This is just incorrect. The NHTSA recommends to stay in normal riding position in the vehicle if you need to stop your car on the highway. Yes, you can still get hurt in some circumstances but your neighbor could be dead instead.
glbrew··on “Children of Men”'s vision of the future is now disturbingly familiar
I'd say "v for vendetta" is the closest.
glbrew··on Waymo: Google's self-driving car company
They will get smoked by Tesla.
glbrew··on Thailand is launching a stock exchange just for startups; no revenue required
This will end well.

glbrew··on Amazon's Snowmobile Is Actually a Truck Hauling a Huge Hard Drive
Oh come on I didn't even know I could get downvoted on HN
glbrew··on Amazon's Snowmobile Is Actually a Truck Hauling a Huge Hard Drive
Finally somewhere to store my porn collection.
glbrew··on How Stable Are Democracies? ‘Warning Signs Are Flashing Red’
Well, the first terrorist attack after Trump takes office, so about 3 months from now.
glbrew··on Want to Make a Difference After the Election? Move to the Midwest
Why? So neoliberal victors in NYC and SF can undercut your livelihood until you're pissed off enough to vote for Trump?
glbrew··on Energy Giant Shell Says Oil Demand Could Peak in Just Five Years
AKA "Oh don't worry about regulating us and protecting the environment, it will naturally happen in five years when your need for us will surely peak!"
glbrew··on “Not with a bang but a whimper”
Can I get TLDR?
glbrew··on Ebola Outbreak Evolution Rate
I think the 1st derivative of new cases is more meaningful for being under control... hopefully
glbrew··on A Working Hypothesis on MH370
Another problem with this theory is the plane followed precise navigational way points. It was not flying randomly / chaotically the entire time.
glbrew··on Ask HN: Why aren't there any families with a trillion dollars in assets?
Well this probably isn't what you are looking for but the Saudi family (of Saudi Arabia) is worth "well over $1.4 trillion." That is spread out between an extended family.

glbrew··on Almost everyone involved in developing Tor was funded by the US government
The US Government, and even just the military, is an extraordinarily large and heterogeneous organization. The State Department and Military services desire network security and anonymity to protect free speech and democracy around the world. Intelligence services (NSA, CIA) want the exact opposite, penetrable and observable networks. Yes, believe it or not the entire US Government is not perfectly coordinated in a giant conspiracy. Different groups within the US Government have different goals.
glbrew··on Drinking behind 1 in 10 deaths of working-age adults
Pound for pound men metabolize most drugs (including alcohol) faster than women. A 150 pound man will be less drunk than a 150 pound woman who consumes the same amount of alcohol. On top of this the average man is heavier than the average woman.
glbrew··on The Disappearing Universe
Now I'm sad
glbrew··on The Dark Side of the Sharing Economy
I'm not a fanboy of the sharing economy myself but its important to note this is an opinion page article (apparently without an author?) and is worth jack shit. It doesn't really make any good points and is probably just written and sponsored by those losing money from the sharing economy.
glbrew··on Discrimination starts even before grad school, study finds
No shit?
glbrew··on Larry Page: I’d Rather Leave My Billions to Elon Musk Than to Charity
Why not both?
glbrew··on Satellite photos of possible crash site of MH370
That is fucking incredible they could find that in the Indian Ocean
glbrew··on Show hacker news: website to gamble on the location of flight 370
Actually crowd sourcing ideas on where the flight went can help authorities. The us military has considered implementing their own gambling markets for acts of terrorism, here is the first link I came across:

glbrew··on Ask HN: Starting at Google in a few weeks. Any tips?
Either kick someone's ass or become someone's bitch on the first day; there is no other way you'll be able to make it.
glbrew··on Snowden granted 1-year asylum in Russia, leaves airport
I don't live in DC but it would be nice if someone could stop by the Russian embassy and put some flowers in front. It would show that American people don't necessarily agree with our government and are grateful for the Russian's support.
