george_perez··on GrapheneOS Overhauled Default Apps and Secure Clipboard
Eh, I don’t think you have to include Apple here. If it were up to them, the iPhone would still have zero RCS support right now. The current implementation of RCS, even in iOS 27 beta, is clunky.

To me, the only they’re trying to maintain control of is AppleOS-to-AppleOS text communication.

Where did you see this? Can't see that in the article or a quick search on the rules PDF.

They announced 1.1.1.1 on April 1st way back in 2018 too.

george_perez··on CryptPad: An Alternative to the Google Suite
I think because it's web-based only, much like Google Docs and the like are. For my Cryptpad replaced Google Docs as a live-collaboration tool.
george_perez··on Microsoft's new "passwordless by default" is great but comes at a cost
When in DND notifications still work, they're just under the fold and you need to swipe up to see the Microsoft Authenticator notifications.

I'm thinking that by losing their iCloud account is just means it will be blocked from syncing anything with Apple's servers.
george_perez··on Fastmail lays off 60% of union bargaining committee in surprise restructure
I'm guessing regarding being able to use it outside of their apps, no? That's my main concern. I'm mainly a Mail.app user and having to run the bridge all the time does not seem ideal for me. I haven't tried it out so this is just me talking from the outside.
george_perez··on Apple Vision Pro review
Doesn’t look like it.

> Ive began dreaming about an Apple watch just after CEO Steve Jobs’ death in October 2011. He soon brought the idea to Dye and a small group of others in the design studio.

george_perez··on Tweetbot is back down again
Not sure about special agreements or contracts, but Tweetbot along with other high-profile third-party apps (like Twitterrific) had way, way more API tokens available because of their size when Twitter started restricting the number of API tokens an app could have assigned for the lifetime of the app. API tokens for new apps were way more limited, around 10,000 I believe. Tweetbot and Twitterrific, while they never disclosed how many tokens they were given as legacy apps, were still to this day accepting new users, so the number seems to be way more than 10,000.

And they had access to a less limited API (request-wise) to make their app work better without constant rate limiting nags.

george_perez··on Apple Cash
That's the list for Apple Pay, not Apple Cash. Apple Cash is US only.
george_perez··on Booting a macOS Apple Silicon Kernel in QEMU
Like the previous person said, mainly stability and support. There's no doubt that macOS can run much faster in non-Apple hardware given certain parameters, but if you want support and solid stability you would probably go with Mac hardware.
george_perez··on Did Apple build MagSafe so that cases can “stick” to the new iPhones?
It does. That's what the circular strip is for, like you said.

george_perez··on Google announces Pixel 5, Pixel 4A 5G, and Pixel 4A
It's not on the Mac, what Apple Watch and Mac does is unlock the Mac when it locks. It doesn't keep it unlocked like the OP mentioned.
george_perez··on The AirPods Pro “Rattlegate”
Thanks for the info! I wonder if they deal with AirPods, though. Authorized Repair Centers usually deal with a subset of products and not ALL Apple products, at least the ones here in PR.
george_perez··on The AirPods Pro “Rattlegate”
Thanks! Fixed.
george_perez··on The AirPods Pro “Rattlegate”
Same here. From Puerto Rico, too. I thought about sending my AirPods Pro to my relative living in FL, but with COVID-19 shipping delays I didn't want to risk missing the extremely narrow shipping window to send back the broken AirPods. They were all "Yep, this sounds like a problem! Let me set up a repair" until I sent my Puerto Rico address. Terrible support for non US-mainlanders.
george_perez··on Apple Reports Second Quarter Results
I left the original word in place so people could see that I was corrected. How is that not fair?
george_perez··on Apple Reports Second Quarter Results
Yes, this is what I meant.
george_perez··on Apple Reports Second Quarter Results
Definitely, products that Apple were always available with deliver within 2 business days. As the crisis grew worse, a lot of products started slipping to 2-3 weeks for delivery. Apple usually doesn't stockpile and sells things as they make it, with a tiny ~margin~ inventory.
