geoffbp··on The senior engineer death spiral
If a senior isn’t doing what they feel is meaningful work - or not communicating what they’re focused on, isn’t that partially on their manager?

obviously, more senior ICs should be creating/defining/delivering their own work. But either way, alignment with director or TL seems like a good idea to reduce anxiety

geoffbp··on AI-generated posters don’t have to be horrible
> Inspired by this blog post, I went on to make a catalogue of one hundred poster styles, with ready-to-paste prompts and example images for each one.

This is really cool! I don’t ever make posters - but I can imagine these being super useful

geoffbp··on Hugging Face is billing OpenAI $100M for hacking it
> When Hugging Face tried to investigate, analysing the intrusion meant submitting the attacker’s own code to commercial AI tools. Those tools refused, unable to tell an attacker from a victim.

This is a worrying part as well. Our tool broke into yours but you can not use our tool to fix it - sorry.

> And Anthropic is paying LLM competitor SpaceXAI over a billion dollars per month to lease spare compute

I knew of this but not the $ amount. Wow

Heh :)

geoffbp··on Muse Spark 1.3
> /taste: an anti-slop filter: a flat checklist of visual defaults not to use, so generated UI stops looking machine-made.

This is interesting

Off topic: I like the presentation of this site!

Hug of death? Doesn’t seem to load for me
geoffbp··on How to stop Claude from saying load-bearing
Add “not just” to the list of Claudeisms!
geoffbp··on Are we offloading too much of our thinking to AI?
I think the answer is yes, we are getting lazy by delegating a lot of work to LLMs. The offloading thinking seems to help because we can get answers faster, but we aren’t using our brains as much. In the long run it will be a bad thing
geoffbp··on Show HN: Super Dario
Open source it? :-)
geoffbp··on Show HN: 18 Words
Nice game :)
geoffbp··on Apple WWDC 2026 Livestream
+1 it is weird the presentations and feels fake, people must like it
geoffbp··on Public Domain Image Archive
The infinite view is cool, a bit addictive :)
geoffbp··on Harness engineering: Leveraging Codex in an agent-first world
I like the idea of saving the work done into files - helps to prevent the llm from redoing the same work. Maybe one day instead of code in a repo it will just be a list of prompts.
geoffbp··on Claude Opus 4.8
This is cool. Thanks for sharing!
geoffbp··on I manage teams without a single call
Usually if you’re a manager, your job IS the meetings - or a large portion of it. You’re responsible for a remit and the performance of people inside the group and what is delivered. I think it’s unlikely that can be done of high quality without meetings, but ymmv
geoffbp··on I manage teams without a single call
I am an introvert myself - but sometimes it’s good to get out of your comfort zone.
geoffbp··on Search engines alternatives now that Google isn't Google anymore
Bing is dead I suppose?
geoffbp··on Search engines alternatives now that Google isn't Google anymore
+1 I did the same a few years back. It’s fine most of the time. Their AI assist is ok as well. No complaints here, can always fallback to google if the results aren’t good enough
geoffbp··on Microsoft starts canceling Claude Code licenses
How efficient is Claude at cleaning up unused code and making things more simple - as good as it is at adding code / features?
geoffbp··on Obsidian plugin was abused to deploy a remote access trojan
I use the plugin for Git, and the one for tasks. Hope those are safe!
