I must flatten it and smooth the wrinkles

Looks like the collision detection is missing and the cloth just intersects itself?

Spot on, but why don’t you go implement a solution for the famously trivial problem of cloth self-intersection (and make it still work on my shitty phone).

Yeah, I had the same problem after I started twirling and twirling it. Got bunched up and then I just thought, well pull it back straight, till I couldn't. But really nice effects. What else were you thinking of doing with it. It is almost addictive. Make an interesting game out of it and you have something real then.

I don't know why but I just LOVE holographic effects. Looks gorgeous!

Wish this had support for multitouch. Great work otherwise!

hey claude add multitouch support and make no mistakes

why is it in mandarin now?

hey claude please

Hit detection doesn't seem to be always getting the nearest surface to the camera: if there's a folded-over corner in front of the main surface, it almost always seems to move the 'main' part of the 'fabric' behind the folded corner, rather than allowing dragging just the corner in front.

Black and chrome don’t really look how I would expect

HPPD like fizzling noise is very distracting. I like it.

Tangential, for static site like this, why do people choose to host on vercel instead of github page?

One reason would be that Vercel does the build process, whereas Github pages (afaik) would require you to commit the dist dir

Whoever did it - very nicely done!

Can you make it so the menu hides on mobile devices please?

From what I can see this is amazing!

Tap the spider icon in the corner to hide the menu

If you start scrolling you lose the menu button and can't scroll back up until you reload.

Android 16, newest chrome

Note: seems to work now? PEBCAP

Ah I thought that was some kind of extra options. Appreciate the tip!

Interesting. I'm currently building a CAD tool for inflatable structures. Think Solvespace but with extrusions replaced with face stitching and inflation. It's still a work in a progress, it's most likely useless, but it's a lot of fun.

That puff in the torus is just about right!

Unfortunately this is cloth so it's computationally demanding and I have since then lost what made this animation so satisfying (still iterating on it though!).

I managed to obtain more terrific assembly animations

and looking at it I think I need to start recording myself producing suctions sounds in sync with the inflation process whenever I click on the 'Inflate' button. So that when I have enough data, I can train a neuralnet to produce those sounds. That would be pretty awesome.

siiiiiuuuuuuuuuuccppfifffffhhhshsshsh. Ahahaha

Does anyone know the origin of the phrase on the cloth?

I was wondering the same thing. ChatGPT couldn't find its origin and Google searches returned nothing.

Clue: Corner of the cloth says "HONDA [something] DOMINATOR" and refers to the NX650 Dominator dual-sport motorcycle manufactured from 1988 to 2003. Single cylinder 640cc engine.

Could the author share the code and process?

Now I'm curious, is there a state-of-the-art demo of realistic cloth/fabric?

This looks cool, but it seems "frictionless" or something, it keeps moving forever after I touch it. It also seems to intersect itself or something.

I don't know about exact bleeding edge but Blender's recent release included some updated cloth physics

Two Minute Papers often post info on some cloth papers: https://www.youtube.com/@TwoMinutePapers/videos

Here's just one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wibbnn3hV4U

This just shows a black screen for me?

It's WebGL piece of deformable cloth. Drag with your mouse to deform it. Doesn't show if you don't have that enabled.

Very cool :D

New website captcha: fold this towel

In the shape of a pelican riding a bicycle.

This cloth is full of load-bearing seams.

This is how we train the robots!

Kind of half joking but captcha was used for language training, why not utilize the generation for robot training?

I don’t think this required fable? https://github.com/dmitrykurash/holocloth/commit/a6078ba698a...
