geetee··on Feds charge three over Molotov attacks on Tesla sites in multiple states
I know right? Isn't it absolutely abhorrent that I don't care that Elon Musk owns 13% of Tesla?
geetee··on Feds charge three over Molotov attacks on Tesla sites in multiple states
the use or threat of violence to instill fear and achieve political or ideological goals, often targeting civilians

Doesn't seem like a stretch to me. If I was looking to buy a new car, I would be hesitant to buy a Tesla because they're being targeted.

geetee··on A SpaceX team is being brought in to overhaul FAA's air traffic control system
Because software developers have never worked in an unfamiliar domain, which necessitated interviewing the subject matter experts to gain perspective on their problems and needs.
geetee··on Did missing/corrupt dates in COBOL default to 1875-05-20?
It's exhausting. Each side of every argument is full of misinformation, intentionally or not.
geetee··on In Zig, what's a writer?
This was one of the first things I encountered while dabbling in Zig. I spent a few hours digging through examples in the standard library and googling to see how you're supposed to pass a writer.

My day job is with TypeScript, so "any" gives me some heartache, but it seems unwarranted because Zig verifies the correctness at compile time. I won't make any claims to really understand Zig yet, but it was enough to make me feel comfortable with continuing to learn it.

From the article, Delta pilots were following air traffic control directions.

geetee··on Don't Get Distracted (2017)
It's nice that the author can hold opinions and write a blog post like this and not be disappeared. I wonder why that's possible...

geetee··on Radar Detector Legend Michael Valentine Has Died
I suspect most users are not racing. They're probably driving a comfortable 80mph in 65mph and just don't want to get a ticket for a completely reasonable speed in a modern car.
geetee··on Radar Detector Legend Michael Valentine Has Died
I've seen more near accidents from people braking hard after seeing a cop.

geetee··on America's dramatic shift from gas power plants to batteries
I checked out a Facebook group for a neighboring town's fight against this, and I don't think logical reasoning works. They're too busy praising Florida's HB 1645.
geetee··on America's dramatic shift from gas power plants to batteries
There are a couple of these facilities being planned near me right now. They're receiving immense pushback from people concerned about lithium fires.

geetee··on Australia to ban engineered stone
I don't think I've ever seen a tradesperson wearing PPE. Recent example: our neighbor had some stonework done, and these guys were just casually hanging out in clouds of cement and stone dust.

Google seems to disable a lot of features (e.g. package tracking) when I'm using Firefox mobile, but not Chrome.
geetee··on How to deal with extreme physical pain
Based on other comments, I was under the impression that some people wanted zero unsolicited feedback. This instead sounds like you don't want people to keep offering suggestions after you tell them to stop. The former would make for a really cold society. The latter is completely understandable. I would tell the repeat offenders to fuck right off.
