I’ve heard google has an alpha version of this for internal use only.

From time to time they let it run loose to clean up their products.

Based on some comments in this post and the posted article, it seems we are assisting to a power shift, I wonder who will replace the US and how long will it take.

What makes you think that it wont reverse? Look at what is happening to the chip wars between Us, EU and China, and the energy crisis in Europe.

My thought is that we are witnessing the beginning of the end of globalization.

I don’t understand why they haven’t used identical hardware, network latency and CPU context switching can be tricky to measure correctly.

That’s the worst piece of advice I have ever read. We are humans not machines, chasing money should never be a goal in itself. Manu people have a successful and accomplished life by non financial metrics.

Not really, Tesla hasn’t placed their cars in dealerships for years bound by a contract, and all of a sudden decided that dealerships don’t deserve the margin the same Tesla would have been bound to pay through the above contract terms.

gazarullz··on Kotlin becomes second most popular language on the JVM
I wonder how long is it gonna be until Kotlin will have the same fate as Groovy and Scala.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate both Groovy, Scala as well as Kotlin. History has shown that Java has always managed to move forward and superseed the former.

You should try using computed propeties, it's the closest/cleanest way to pattern matching until tc39 will pass the pending proposal.

gazarullz··on The Norwegian art of the packed lunch
That is what I ended up doing as-well, extending my lunch break for about 15-20 minutes. But that in retrospective puts me in the situation where I am left sitting alone in the canteen due to colleagues finishing long before me.
gazarullz··on The Early History of F# [pdf]
I worked quite a bit with F# and Scala.

I really like F# pipelines and function declaration syntax.

On the other hand I've found Scala's case classes cleaner than F#'s (maybe that's because I am coming from an OOP world).

Additionally F# has a cleaner pattern matching compared to Scala.

Both languages have very good support for actor model concurrency (love akka actors and .net agents)

I think that if F# would have had a rich ecosystem the way Scala has, it could become a real contender.

(my 2 cents on F#)

gazarullz··on The Norwegian art of the packed lunch
I am living in Denmark working for a famous toy company. I moved from Southern Europe to Denmark a few years ago and the thing that struck me the most was the 20 minutes lunch break (since the schedule is 7.40 hours and 20 minutes of lunch break). I feel it was too rushed and my stomach had hard times adapt to those time frames.
