I disagree; apps were never a guarantee. Steve was adamant about not having 3rd party apps on the iPhone for a long time. However, with 20/20 hindsight it's easy to see.
If the friction point of using a product is polite society, then maybe it's time to rethink it. If Glass wasn't as visible on the user, would that make it more ok to use, or less ok?
"The suicide rate in Singapore is rising at an unprecedented rate of 29% a year. With people between the age of 20-29, the increase is a horrifying 80%."
The author said that it is rising rapidly, not that it is currently high.
I was just in Budapest. It was really beautiful, but I encountered some of the rudest people I have ever met. I've read on other travel sites that people in Budapest are extremely rude to tourists compared to the rest of Hungary. Maybe it's implied by the nature of this thread that you should learn the language before you move there, but you definitely should for Budapest (assuming you don't want to encounter rudeness).
I totally agree that driverless trucks are the future, but I don't think it will come easy. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters is one of the largest unions in North America, and one of the most politically powerful. I think that they will fight this with everything they have to keep humans getting paychecks.
I can tell you a little about Sweden's culture, as I've just moved to Sweden as part of a study abroad program at my university in the USA. Sweden is amazing; it's very clean, and there is very little crime here. The average standard of living here is very high, and as a result, Sweden is crazy expensive. Also, Swedes can be kind of cold. Someone in one of my classes told me that it is uncommon for Swedes to make new friends after 21. Maybe that person was exaggerating, but I have noticed that people here are less open. The tech scene is very welcoming though. I've been to a few tech events around the city, and the people there have been very helpful and nice. I think Stockholm is a great place to live, and if you have a salary that matches the standard of living here (unlike my student budget), I think you will enjoy it.
I keep reading about how the banking of bitcoins is unstable. It's bad for the image of bitcoin because it seems like it can't be trusted, and lawsuits like these damage the credibility of the currency and the companies.
To everyone talking about law enforcement: I think that the use of the key is implied for being arrested, but by 'unlawful restraint' they just mean some random person restraining you (kiddnapping?). Some random person probably wouldn't use proper handcuffing technique.
