This isn't true for biodata or medical related data.
From my personal perspective, Firefox gets the job done but Chromium is undoubtedly the better browser. On desktop and mobile, the difference is felt even more on mobile.
Every time I found an obvious bug or got an unpolished experience on Firefox, I hated it even more.
Whatever data the author thinks they are hiding away from Google, they are (un)knowingly giving it to Mozilla. Even worse if they are using Google to search.
They need more than an ad-supported tier to come out of this. In the midst of a shaky market and lowest ever subscription numbers, they have no choice but to cater to all walks of audiences if they are to survive.
And spend less on shows, I was seeing crazy budgets to the tune of $30M per episode[0] on the new upcoming season of Stranger Things. That's now bad for the bottom line.

>I don't think this is guaranteed
This is very much assured. Only a matter of when. It may take 2-3 decades to realize but it's gonna happen if China's growth rate [0] continues as US GDP [1] steadily declines. Though with the current geopolitics around the Russia/Ukraine war, maybe China may threaten to invade Taiwan and speed up this process of dethroning US as the top super power.

China is soon going to overtake the US as the world hegemony. This disruption will have devastating effects. The accelerated move to the 4th Industrial Revolution will be even more disruptive, unlike anything we as humans have ever known. We keep on ignoring the global warming threat because we think our survival will be under threat if we go cold turkey on fossil energy and the creature comforts necessary to forestall the climate disaster. The covid pandemic gave us all a unique opportunity to recalibrate our collective lives. Today, we go about our daily lives as if the past 3 years was just a bad dream. I very much doubt we can make it through another global pandemic on a scale as or bigger than covid was in the near future.
Sounds like you are trying to quantify (the value of) life. What about mentally handicapped people, are they deemed not valuable humans in your eyes because they are not intelligent?
Am pro-abortion in extreme cases involving rape or abuse. But am also anti-abortion and pro-life. Not sure if there's a category for people who hold this idea.
Is body autonomy absolute when you have a living organism inside of you? Is the "hate for women" justified for the sake of saving life? Is life even that important to us if we can allow a pregnant woman to arbitrarily take it? If so, what is our definition of life then?
Excuse my little tirade. I love the age-old abortion debate:)
This is the generation that needs (and sometimes demands that) their spaces online be protected from any ideas that are divergent to those they subscribe to.
But I think if you look at this problem from an individual perspective. Key data that is unique to them doesn't change most of the time. Say a target person has dental issues and you have their phone number. There is a high chance that in 5 years from now, they still may require dental services and their phone number hasn't changed. They may have moved jobs, neighborhoods etc. in between but their need for dental service has remained constant and probably will into the future.
Let me give you another example. Say you want to run for public office, and in your young adult life some of your social media pages had questionable posts/media. Is this data any less valuable to your competition running for the same office?
I may be taking a different approach with this but a lot of nuances get lost in the numbers.
My point is once the data is out there on the internet, it can be hard to control it and/or assign value to it.
Before I knew any better, I was ignorant of the permissions and saw it as a worthy trade-off since my contact(s) will somehow end up there, if they weren't already. As all it takes is for someone else who has saved my number to download the app and give it permission.
Didn't give them much thought until I started seeing them buy advertisement spots in some of the local daily newspapers. They were getting greedy for more data. From that moment, I deleted my account and created a new account signed in only with a random Microsoft login and the app now lives in the work profile where there are no contacts.
The app will refuse to work until you grant it permission to make calls (read your IMEI pre-Android 10) and obviously read contacts permission. It is also quite intrusive. Coincidentally, the other app I found employing such dirty tactics by refusing to launch at all before being granted sensitive permissions is Whatsapp.

Unless you are in Ukraine, you cannot do anything to influence the outcome of this war.
How? When Ukraine's borders are surrounded by Russian armies and Pro-Russian separatists now.
If you are talking about having done that pro-actively, then that's a failure on your part. One that may have a profound effect on Ukraine's defense.
Calling Putin's bluff on invading Ukraine was the biggest mistake the West made. NATO should have seeked to recruit new member countries from other regions. They forced Putin into action.
If you are calling for an assault on Russia in the hopes of making Putin bow out of this war, you would be effectively starting WWIII. Putin has just recently called bluff on readying the nuclear warheads, I don't think any leader wants to antagonize the situation any further.
The most reasonable course of action IMO (with the least amount of casualties) is to let Putin have his way for now, and let him deal with the consequences later on.

You fail to prove why my logic is wrong and answer your own questions instead, then on top of that make sure to sprinkle vague insults at me! I won't bother providing rebuttals to the rest of your arguments. You make sure you have a good day, moron!
Because they stand to gain (immensely) from building my trust about their model of advertising if I choose to participate in it. Or maybe am being too optimistic and everyone would disable ads 100% of the time given such an option? Would be an awesome experiment for Google :)
The problem with these platforms you call ad-supported, is even when you pay a subscription for premium the content creators are allowed to slot in sponsored segments which isn't exactly my definition of an ad-free experience.
> By using ad blockers, you are merely taking away from everyone else using the platform. I wish these companies did more to stop ad blockers.
Taking away what exactly? If you could be a bit more specific. Also, you are free to dream in your utopia where ad blockers don't serve a need, just don't expect everyone to follow you there.
> That's because from what you wrote, you don't seem to understand how these ad platforms work
Would be happy if you could explain where I got it wrong.
I recon from an individual perspective, ads are not a game changer to consumer behavior. They only burden the individual with more decisions to make when choosing a product to buy. Infact, in today's standards they only serve as a way to guess-timate person X bought toothpaste B because of ad campaign Z. Therefore, give us (ad broker Y) some of that kickback. When I still would have bought the toothpaste anyway.
