flying_whale··on The Most Misread Poem in America (2015)
This little comic strip made me see the poem in a whole new light. Something I keep coming back to whenever I'm faced with a big choice :)

flying_whale··on A Letter From Winston Churchill’s Disappointed Mother
Wait, why is this comment being down-voted?

It's written in a respectful manner, cites a strong source, and is very much relevant to the link posted.

flying_whale··on Ask HN: Does anybody else feel overwhelmed while reading HN?
This is one of the most helpful comments I've read on HN, thanks! :)
flying_whale··on Markdown and LaTeX Editor
I have been using https://stackedit.io/ a lot for Markdown editing and have loved it's simple and straightforward preview interface.

For LaTeX, I've used https://www.overleaf.com/ till now.

From my initial interactions with this editor, it just might prove to be a single replacement for both the above sites!

flying_whale··on Let’s learn Erlang and fix a bug on a CouchDB Cluster
Definitely, I shall!
flying_whale··on Let’s learn Erlang and fix a bug on a CouchDB Cluster
This looks promising. Will try and go through the entire thing.

On a similar note about learning Erlang, can't stress how well written http://learnyousomeerlang.com/content is.

Really sets the standards of how tutorials to learn a new language should be.

flying_whale··on Elon Musk's first wife on what it takes to become a billionaire
The opinion is as generic as that of a random person. There's nothing in the answer which provides an actual insight into the making of a billionaire.

Maybe there are no insights. Maybe it is all a sum of the generic things she spoke of, and pure luck of having successful consecutive ventures.

But to put it simply, it's not that great of a Quora answer.

flying_whale··on Elon Musk's first wife on what it takes to become a billionaire
I'm pretty sure the answer wouldn't have garnered so much attention had a normal person (not Elon's ex-wife) written it.
flying_whale··on Nvidia's new mobile superchip
It's actually quite interesting to think about it. Considering Intel hitting 14nm with Broadwell, there's only a certain limit to which we can push things or make them smaller. There has to be a point of saturation with things. BUT that's where the interesting part will be. The new revolutions that spring up new manufacturing materials which can defy the limits of the current ones.
flying_whale··on Digital Ocean receive new funding of $50m
This was bound to happen. I'm sure everyone expected it to be even greater that 50. I'm hopeful that they'll continue to focus on the simplicity which happens to be their main USP.

IPO soon in the next couple of years?

flying_whale··on My 30 Day Challenge Learning the MEAN Stack – Lessons Learned (it Was Hard)
Kickass stuff! Although if by chance you documented your way through out the app and could share it, it would make a pretty decent guide for people looking to go MEAN. And that would also add a lot of substance to the Technical Details section of the post.

This helps explain VMware's vision behind the partnership.
