Yup. Google tries to get me to make a left turn from a stop sign across 4 lanes of main street suburban traffic rather than waiting at the traffic light one block north - a light that that also backs traffic up past the stop sign when the main street traffic flow stops. I wrote them a couple of times a few years back, but I've learned to ignore the directions.

Mares eat oats and does eat oats And little lambs eat ivy A kid'll eat ivy too Wouldn't you?

Contractor math.

There are 52 weeks in 1 year. Give yourself 2 weeks vacation that leaves 50 weeks. At 40 hours per week that is 2000 hours as a full time equivalent (a salaried position). If you bill at 100/hour that is 200k/year.

If you want/need 4 weeks off, assume 1920 hours per year and adjust your hourly rate, call it ~105/hour

If your medical insurance costs 6k per year, adjust your hourly rate, call it ~107.3/hour

If you want disability/life insurance and the cost to you is 15k per year, adjust your hourly rate, call it now ~115/hour.

Giving up 50k in stock options, well that's a one time thing. Also if a relocation is required and your partner looses their positon better factor that into your decision - up front.

This all gets negotiated up front - not 4 months in.

Good luck on your next negotiation.

How can my 1 tiny customisation request be so dificult - afterall, you serve millions of customers everyday?

Hire some else to do it. Never explain technology to your wife.

Who's going to underwrite the insurance?

I was trying to learn some math in my 50's. I hired a NYU math PHD to come to my office once a week for $100/hour (an NYU course was $6000/semester). I think it worked out well for both of us.

I can still hear my accounting professor pronouncing it. Debits and Credits both have 2 sylables.

We did that in high school physics. Physics was last period and before swim practice. We'd put a pencil in our hands and dangle our hand off the edge of the desk. When you dropped your pencil it'd wake you up. Hopefully it'd wake you up so the team wouldn't skeak off an leave you sleeping in the physics lab.

Don't tell me, show me.

The first intelligent life from earth to meet extraterestial intelligent life will be a dog, and it will speak mandrin.

Why does he use the form: "A relation more or less correspond to" and "A relation have"? This doesn't seem to me to be unintended.

I ususally don't remember what I called it. I remember where and when I saved it.
