flareback··on Stopping phishing campaigns with Bash
Is it damage if you're just sending data to an endpoint to see what happens. Sounds like he didn't try to send a SQL Injection, he just sent more characters than what was expected.
flareback··on Proteus becomes the world's first manufactured non-cuttable material

flareback··on Show HN: 3D Book Image CSS Generator
That is quite impressive. Setting the perspective to 0 made the cover look like it was a front on shot but I could still see the side of the book which looks strange to me. Still nice though.

edit: please take this as a helpful suggestion and not a criticism. I still really like the work you've done.

flareback··on FAA documents give unprecedented look into Colorado drone swarm mystery
It's aliens. They've realized if they use drones that people will blame governments or large corporations. /sarcasm
flareback··on Have we let the LED indicator light go too far?
The indicator light for the macbook pro camera is an example of an led used correctly. Off when the camera is off and on to show that the camera is on.
flareback··on What I Learnt From Reviewing 22 CVs
I came here to say this. He also states

> if someone was not on LinkedIn or didn’t have a public Git account, I found myself thinking ‘well, what exactly do they do?’

How about spending time with their family, Hanging out with friends. Relaxing and refreshing themselves so they are fresh and ready to go in the morning.

flareback··on “Adobe Flash is no longer supported in Safari”
I was a contractor for a large insurance company (Fortune top 10). One of the main applications they used internally for managing mailings to people was a flash app. When I was hired my first question was when are we rewriting it and was told "It's being planned". I left in December and they still didn't have a plan.
flareback··on “Adobe Flash is no longer supported in Safari”
Discover card used to have that feature. It was also a web-based flash app. I was hoping they'd rewrite it to not use Flash and keep it but they just killed the feature off.
flareback··on macOS Big Sur Preview
This might be what pushes me to look into a linux laptop for work.
flareback··on macOS Big Sur Preview
I don't want a touchscreen desktop. Touchscreen is fine for my phone/tablet but I want a keyboard and mouse for my desktop.
flareback··on macOS Big Sur Preview
I think the lack of title bars is an issue now. I've found it annoys me most on my web browser, when I have lots of tabs open there is one small section between the 3 dots to minimize/close and the first tab that I can use to move the window.

My guess is that they expect most people to use the application full screen and not to be moving it around. I've got a large monitor and I don't keep my windows full screened so this annoys me.

flareback··on Lockdown LUNACY: the thinking person's guide
This article is well written and well referenced. A must read IMO.
flareback··on Postbank to replace 12M bank cards after employees steal 'master key'
Do you think we actually have a free market?
flareback··on Tell HN: Interviewed with Triplebyte? Your profile is about to become public
So I got an email saying my account was deleted. Tried to login and the login failed. Curious if my information was delete or if they just deactivate the login and my information will still show up.
flareback··on Tell HN: Interviewed with Triplebyte? Your profile is about to become public
Your site is a job search site so the fact that someone has an account means they have been job hunting. This is not like Stack Overflow or Hackernews that you seem to like comparing the profiles to. StackOverflow may have job search functionality but it started as primarily something not related to a job search so my having an account there doesn't mean I have been job hunting.
flareback··on Tell HN: Interviewed with Triplebyte? Your profile is about to become public
Yep, they didn't have any positions in the area I live in.
flareback··on Tell HN: Interviewed with Triplebyte? Your profile is about to become public
Thanks. I was looking for the link to delete my account.
flareback··on Nippon Colors
I didn't know that was a thing. Thanks
flareback··on Nippon Colors
When I clicked the toggle button labeled "munsell" it made the color like a tornado spinning.
flareback··on Nippon Colors
I have no idea what that site is about but the clicking the button on the right making the stuff fly around the screen was pretty cool.
flareback··on United Kingdom to introduce security labelling on connected devices
from the press release linked to in the article (https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-to-strengthen-...):

- All consumer internet-connected device passwords must be unique and not resettable to any universal factory setting

- Manufacturers of consumer IoT devices must provide a public point of contact so anyone can report a vulnerability and it will be acted on in a timely manner

- Manufacturers of consumer IoT devices must explicitly state the minimum length of time for which the device will receive security updates at the point of sale, either in store or online

flareback··on Sand dunes can 'communicate' with each other
but the article state "This interaction is controlled by turbulent swirls from the upstream dune". Are the sand dunes themselves willfully creating these swirls? Could they choose not to create the swirls?
flareback··on Sand dunes can 'communicate' with each other
This is interesting but I think the word 'communicate' is bit of a stretch. Why do people always try to anthropomorphize things?
flareback··on Robotic gripper uses acoustic levitation for contact-free manipulation
That's pretty amazing.
flareback··on Seattle-area voters to vote by smartphone in district election
This doesn't even need hacking. You just go on facebook and find someones name and birthday and vote as them.
flareback··on Seattle-area voters to vote by smartphone in district election
As a citizen I think this is a REALLY bad idea because of the security implications surrounding it.
flareback··on Giant magnetic ropes seen in Whale Galaxy's halo
How do they get an image of the magnetic fields?
flareback··on Driver 'blows up' car with 'excessive' use of air freshener
I wonder what really happened that he came up with that story to tell the cops? I'm not sure I'm going to believe this story until we have Adam Savage show it's possible.
flareback··on Make More Land
I don't know much about these, but doesn't it mean that if we remove these salt ponds we'll have to relocate the industry or at least the salt ponds somewhere else?
flareback··on By Quitting Social Media You Could Read 200 Books a Year
What sort of books are they reading that only has 50,000 words? Lord of the Rings has over 480,000 words for all 3 books. Harry Potter has over a million for 7 books. Enders Game has 100,000.

Plus this isn't taking into account that I like to read more technical about my profession which take me longer.

> The average American reads 200–400 words per minute (Since you’re on Medium, I’m going to assume you read 400 wpm like me)

and that assumption is probably a bad assumption. I do tend to read rather slowly.
