euler_··on Samsung's folding phone breaks for reviewers
The screen protector is an integral part of the screen. It's not that if fails later on without it, trying to remove it destroys the screen. It's like pulling the contacts out of a port and complaining that the phone won't charge.
euler_··on IBM halting sales of Watson AI tool for drug discovery
Does it make a difference if they preform better than human docs? The same thing happens now with human docs.
euler_··on Banned Drugs in the Meat Supply?
Sure, bio-accumulation is a risk, but the vast majority of meat eaten by humans is low on the food chain. Fish is a whole different story.
euler_··on Emacs Rocks
Evil mode.
euler_··on Ask HN: YouTube down?
nah, I think 28,000 is right
euler_··on Ask HN: YouTube down?
Going on over an hour now. Someone goofed big time.
euler_··on Ask HN: YouTube down?
nope.

Is there an explore option like on github?
euler_··on Jupiter is deep
Why the title change?
euler_··on The Surprising Importance of Stratospheric Life (2016)
So I know the organisms likely for after a week in the stratosphere, but the resiliency of the cells mentioned make it seem impossible that we didn't take life to mars.
euler_··on The Exeter Book was used as a cutting board
I couldn't make out anything on the pages. How different was the alphabet?
euler_··on How Inmates Play Tabletop RPGs in Prisons Where Dice Are Contraband
Aren't dice and coins banned because they can be sharpened into a shiv? That would explain why cards are allowed.
euler_··on Wounds taking weeks to heal on skin disappear in a week inside the mouth (2013)
Thanks for the information! After reading the abstracts, I still have two question.

1. It sounds like the mechanism for killing cells is very general. Why do histatins not attack somatic cells?

2. Do mouth wounds simply heal faster because the mouth is cleaner?

euler_··on Wounds taking weeks to heal on skin disappear in a week inside the mouth (2013)
That had disappointingly little content. Mouth wounds heal faster because of background saliva, but why?
euler_··on Effect of Low-Fat vs. Low-Carb Diet on 12-Month Weight Loss in Overweight Adults
Ketosis can apparently lead to more weight loss because ketones are less efficient vehicles of energy in general. Additionally, unused ketones can be eliminated through sweat, urine, and breath.
euler_··on The duties of John von Neumann's assistant (1993)
What's the joke?

euler_··on Neurological evidence for chaos in the nervous system (2014)
Maybe. I tend to agree with you. With that being said, the code/automata ideaa of consciousness always remind me of the deists, etc. I'm always a little weary of to literally interpreting the mind this way.
euler_··on “Study Death Always”: Seneca’s advice for living centered on dying
Great! Thanks!
euler_··on “Study Death Always”: Seneca’s advice for living centered on dying
I just finished Marcus Aurelius. What would be a good next text?
euler_··on Double Pendulum Visualization
I really like the animation, but I'm confused by it. I thought that the whole thing with chaotic systems is that extremely slight differences in starting positions lead to very different outcomes. The continuity of the gif is surprising.
euler_··on The Octopus: Stable Genius
I recently took a class which extensively covered the early squid giant axon research. While they are very far away from us in the evolutionary tree, the overall mechanisms are very similar. euler_··on Show HN: Math Art Snapchat AR Lens
So how does the whole lens studio thing work? I just read on the sc site that you have to scan a code, but I just clicked the link and it loaded it right in app.
euler_··on Detecting Consciousness (2017) [pdf]
What techniques does this involve?
euler_··on The Comprehensive Illusion of Football (2015)
I think this article is a bit pretentious. The authors far flung similies create an air of moral smugness. Not a fan.
