But they lose mobility as their family needs change. New kids and need a larger home? You can sell yours, but the differential between a 2br and 4br is now outside your price range due to gentrified prices.
Also, it depends heavily on tax laws. Long time California home owners are protected from tax increases under Proposition 13, but many localities lack these protections, so ultimately higher taxes price you out.
What we do: provide personalized care using on-staff care advocates and telemedicine for women and their families. Our current focus is on those who are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or recently post-partum (including surrogacy and adoption). We provide companies and their employees personalized care programs to drive better clinical outcomes (like reducing c-sections or NICU), better paths back into the workforce through career coaching, and help navigating complex healthcare concerns. Our clients range from small groups all the way to Fortune 50 companies.
Who we are: a healthcare startup in New York (NYC), funded by top tier investors (Sequoia Capital, Oak HC/FT, Great Oaks, Female Founders Fund), Series B, growing across all functions.
Roles:
* Senior infrastructure engineer (Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, Google Cloud Platform, Gitlab CI/CD)
* Senior software engineer (Python, Flask, SQLAlchemy backend, React frontend)
* Others, including non-technical & leadership roles: https://boards.greenhouse.io/mavenclinic (Growth, people, sales, product management, design, client success)

(Both were booking appointments at government agencies with awful reservation systems that often were overbooked or limited availability — TSA global entry appointments and DMV appointments. It cost about $30 each time.)
It can't stop malicious actors, of course.
Then, join any random server and there can be dozens of distinct channels, many of which are meta-on-meta channels: rules, announcements, shout-box, bot-sticky messages, bot commands, and a plethora of other noise, on top of the multitude of automated bot messages you get over time.
Discord bots are out of control. They remind me of the days of IRC and eggbot scripts and eggbot hosts: every channel went out and bought a cheap VPS or eggbot host to run their scrappy little bots. Except somehow worse and incredibly annoying.
I don't think Discord is ready, or even trying to be ready, for enterprise use. Not yet!
Terrifying. So the University of Houston claims they can just steal whatever they want?
In a prior life I developed a slew of XUL apps, including a full-suite medical record system and billing system. It had its quirks, but for a developer-heavy (and design-light) firm it was a great way to build standard, predictable, and accessible UIs.

Am I more likely to open an email that says "[subject] Have you heard about how cloud services can reduce..." -or- "[subject] Does that time work for you?"
(Disclaimer: neither, please stop emailing me about your amazing cloud services and how it will save me money.)
In the era of online news, opinion sections are blended with news.
Even The Guardian falls prey to this: go to https://www.theguardian.com/. Click the Opinion tab. Click any of the opinion pieces. The primary navigation reverts to having 'News' highlighted.
Worse, in reader/mobile view modes, the label "Opinion" does not show anywhere.
If GOOG can actually make this process better (like in their example, if they could have texted me the buried link on fidelity.com that I could do what I wanted to do) than I'm stoked. Less stoked since this seems like a weird product for Google to build, and a prime product for them to try & shut down 18 months from now.
Seeing "foo(args)" as an autocomplete necessitates looking at the docs to find out what "args" gets used for.
You can dispute it, but in the multiple times it has happened to me, they were right, and refunded or charged me sometimes modest sometimes small amounts.
They could've just done that and saved me the $$ spent on Intuit (do it yourself) or accountant services.
In the age of the Internet, where data storage and transmission costs are effectively $0 for basic text documents, there is absolutely no excuse for all laws and codes to be 100% public domain.
It's not as if the government has to print a physical book for every citizen.
If the ICC wanted to keep their work papers private, they should not lobby to get the enacted as laws and code. No one is forcing them to lobby their rules to state houses & cities.
