An AI made to "understand the true nature of the universe"...
Not a word about physics, or mention of physicists in the team and this is led by Elon Musk, the man who think he can send persons to Mars by 2029.
This looks so promising.
VR was really impressive a few years ago, it was running only on gaming computers with VR headsets. Now, with the quest 2 (far less powerfull than the gaming computers mentioned above) and web XR, it seems that developers are targeting mainly low end platforms, and so recent apps and games are rather less immersive than before mainly due to dated graphic quality, and lags when you play it on the quest (who has just a powerfull phone cpu/gpu, poor thing), or in a browser. I hope webgpu will changes that in the browser, and surely an other autonomous headset will arise with a cpu comparable to the apple M1/M2.
nanojsx looks great!
I don't really get why mini-van don't use JSX.. Maybe some people just don't want any html tags in their project ? Or maybe their template engine allows a lighter approach.
Well, it seems they just removed the old world of goo version from the playstore and published a "remastered" version exclusively for Netflix users that looks exactly the same (not even bothering to mention what the remastered game actually change ).
At least the game is still great!
I've worked using self-hosted Gitlabs for more than 6 years, and they're has been almost no down time, mostly quick updates lasting a few minutes from time to time.
Companies tend to fear self-hosted services because tech giants are supposed to be way more reliable and do everything for you, but owning your infrastructure and having people in place who actually know what's going on can be a life saver in many situations.
Hmm, interesting, but it is from 2019 with barely any news about hex since, there is not a single link to download/try the actual thing, and the index page of https://ivanish.ca/ is terribly slow on Firefox ( please try your fancy animated sites on Firefox and various browsers before publishing them, this one is extremely slow on really powerful hardware)
Yes, mocha pots are great ! You can have way stronger and tastier coffee than with french/aero press or the kind of coffee machine used in this article. Most expresso machine for home use are worst too (but they do are more convenient).
We call them "Cafetière à l'Italienne" in france.
For those looking for a more usable emulator for every day life, some have been available for years. Having a ti 86 emulated on my phone was great when I was a student (and way cheaper than a real one..).

There are also a lot of really nice books for children, with great plots and illustrations. And you can actually read them before buying, if you go to a bookstore.
Well I do agree and hope that this will happen some day. And it will be nice that once the stock is distributed more equally, we get other goals than economic growth, like preserving the planet, eradicating poverty, stop producing useless things and creating bullshit jobs to lower the unemployment rate.
But for now the stocks are mostly owned by rich people who want to get richer not matter what and it seems to me that the whole market is so used to that, that it would take a radical system change to make it happen without the economy as we know it crashing hard.
Our heavily capitalist society couldn't work without a certain amount of financial nihilism. How could you be a billionaire without being a financial nihilist ? What are the reasons for wanting to accumulate so much wealth, and keeping it for yourself while so many people suffer from poverty ?
On the other hand, if billionaire's stopped wanting to earn more and more money, the economy would likely crash...
well for most of those tools, it exists npm packages making it quite easy to implement. And even from scratch, it's not that hard.
For me this project rather demonstrate the patience and determination of the author, putting in place all those tools in a nice and accessible way.
In the 6th century, big volcanic eruptions, low temperatures and plagues bringed a dark age in Europe and other parts of the world. A large part of the population died. Maybe those recipes were lost during this period.
Yep, but at least you get payment on your bank account directly..
And for Apple pay, PayPal or things like that I imagine if it's done using stripe on top of that, fees of each platform add up with stripe fees ? Or maybe not ?
Well you're right, if you create it from scratch. I was rather thinking about creating a simple payment handling module centralizing your bank's own pro platform and other things like paypal, apple pay ... etc
Stripe seems really expensive with poor support...
Apparently they take more than 1.4% of your earning. For $400K, it's more than 11 200$. With that money you could hire a developer for a month or two and make him/her create a payment platform adapted to your needs and under your control.
"macOS has much better colour handling than windows". How is that ? Do you just mean apple screens have a better color calibration when you get them ? Or the OS come with some tools to handles colors in some ways Windows can't ?
This is nice, but it's not that incredible : Windows tablets running Resolve smoothly exists since many years (Surface Pro), and they do run the full davinci resolve suite on top of an actual desktop OS.
On the other hand, M1/M2 ipads pro should be way more powerfull than the Surfaces if you need to do some heavy editing/color grading. And it seems they optimized this version for the pencil use.
This is the only thing I like about Apple keyboards.
For programming, their layout is so different than standard keyboards, it's horrifying (I'm talking about the AZERTY ones, don't really know about the QWERTYs) : for example
-_(){}[]*`!+= characters are on different keys.
Also, are standard keyboard still recognized as apple keyboards if you plug them on a mac ?
I don't really see the point of making something so low level accessible from HTML. Or maybe I underestimate how much React made people love using declarative/reactive programming for everything ?
React and Vue integration of ThreeJS or BabylonJS seems more suitable for people wanting to simply add some 3D things to their page using DOM elements and the react/vue syntax.
But this project is still really cool ! Maybe I'm just old and it will find a great user base.
"Found a very suspicious process in htop. Paniced. Later straced it and it was looking for wallet.dat. The OS itself was fairly fresh (q3 ish?).
Sorry i dont think i have any logs or anything that isnt deleted. As you may see from my history, i paniced fairly hard. "
Well, it seems the maintainer panicked hard really quickly, assumed NoiseTorch was compromised, and deleted everything on his computer that could help knowing if it was actually the case...
The Fusion part of Davinci Resolve is a sort of node based after effects.
I might try it someday, apparently it can even import 3D scenes from blender.
Also, after googling it: yes indeed, in some countries renewable energies are more competitive than fission. But that's not the case everywhere :
https://www.iea.org/reports/projected-costs-of-generating-el...
Or maybe you were just talking about the US, in this case your statement might be true.
I hope renewable energies cost will keep decreasing as much as it did those last ten years but I'm not as optimistic as you are.
"But fission is already not competitive with solar/wind + storage."
Any source about that ? It just sounds like an arbitrary anti-nuclear opinion without any evidence backing it. But I'm still cursious if you have anything serious to prove this claim.
For me, there is quite a difference between investing millions or even billions in some trending startup who mainly know how to sell their crap tech idea, and investing a reasonable amount of money in a restaurant that will actually serve food to people.
But hey, creating a startup and trying to make it an unicorn is still trending. Still tons of people with too much money have a hobby investing in bullshit tech things, so there is hope for each founder to find a lot of founding money if they are good at selling their product idea, no matter how bad or good it actually is.
And then, when the initial cash flow runs dry, the startup fails, time to create another one !
