elktea··on You should install QoS on all your servers
This looks like a good frontend to tc. Looks like it's bundled with this other firewall product though, which is a shame as I am very happy with firewalld on CentOS.
elktea··on Ask HN: What will IPV6 migration actually look like?
/56 seems to be the most common, with a few people still advocating for /48s for all connections.
elktea··on The IPv6 Numeric IP Format Is a Usability Problem
Hardly. IPv6 is straight forward for any network engineer with experience with existing networks. It's IPv4 but you get to design address space to logically suit your infrastructure and needs.
elktea··on Python 3 in 2016
It's an interesting idea, thanks.
elktea··on Python 3 in 2016
Except, you often need a full compiler toolchain for all the c dependencies. Then you need to make sure you have the required header files. Then you try and deploy to a small EC2 instance and run out of RAM building lxml or similar.
elktea··on Decentraleyes: A Firefox addon to prevent tracking via free CDN providers
I thought Disconnect was based on preexisting lists and Privacy Badger automatically worked out which sites seemed to be setting cookies and using them for tracking across sites. I'll need to look into it more, thanks.
elktea··on Decentraleyes: A Firefox addon to prevent tracking via free CDN providers
Looks good. I've added it to my ever growing list of privacy extensions:

  * Privacy Badger
  * Disconnect
  * CanvasBlocker
Can anyone recommend any more?
elktea··on Annoyances of API Design
Who cares what the XML looks like? You import the wsdl and off you go.
elktea··on Scrapy Tips from the Pros
Shame Python 3 isn't there for Scrapy yet - although checking the repo looks like someone is actively (last few hours) porting it. Good to see.
elktea··on I ended up paying $150 for a single 60GB download from Amazon Glacier
I briefly used Glacier for daily backups as a failsafe if our internal tape backups failed when we needed them. The 4 hour inventory retrieval when I went to test the strategy and the bizarre pricing quickly make me look at other options.
elktea··on Sqlmap – Automatic SQL injection and database takeover tool

elktea··on Sqlmap – Automatic SQL injection and database takeover tool
I used this just today to demonstrate to our developers why their attempts to fix SQL injection via real_escape_string and regex wasn't a good idea. Great tool.
elktea··on Comcast injects JavaScript into webpages to show copyright notices to customers
I've been forced do some awful things with squid and WCCP for this very purpose. A control channel would be great.
elktea··on Linux TCP will have lockless listener processing 3.5M SYNs per sec
Since it sounds like your workload is nicely distributed, why not try it one a few nodes and compare?
elktea··on Email Encryption Is Broken
HSTS for email won't fix this. PGP or similar is probably the only thing you can do to ensure your email isn't read.
elktea··on FreeBSD Status Report, Jul-Sep 2015
LUN clustering via CTL and multipath TCP both sound like killer applications to me.
elktea··on Deploying a Django App with No Downtime
What about simply spinning up a new VM on a service like AWS, keep the database and switch the load balancer you've confirmed the app is responding on the new VM?
elktea··on Why Red Hat Acquired Ansible
I like and use Ansible, but unfortunately I have always found the quality of the 3rd party software playbook (both on Galaxy and elsewhere) is not nearly as professional or comprehensive as equivalent Puppet or Chef ones. Hopefully people invest more time into this side of things now Red Hat is involved.
elktea··on Study: people who eat and exercise the same as people 20 years ago are fatter
It's due to what we feed them, as well. We even feed corn to farmed Salmon, which makes their Omega 3&6 ratios the opposite of what they naturally are.
elktea··on Firefox for iOS Now Available for Preview in New Zealand
Lastpass, Privacy Badger, Disconnect and uBlock
elktea··on The SimCity Planning Commission Handbook
If you're interested in the history of this sort of thing Lewis Mumford's 'The City In History' is a fantastic read. Brilliantly researched and presented in a very non-dry way.
elktea··on Traceroute
It tries to look up IPv6 addresses as domain names, unfortunately.
elktea··on GitHub had connectivity problems
Possibly for SEO reasons.
elktea··on Amazon Aurora Now Available
Is this based on Galera?
elktea··on Box's HHVM Migration
Interesting you're considering Hack. Does Hack fix all the weird warts PHP has carried into this century?
elktea··on Two more Flash 0-days emerge in Hacking Team leak
Browsers give away far too much information: https://panopticlick.eff.org/
elktea··on Django Developers Survery Results
I agree, I've been looking for something as good as Django in languages like Java, Go, and even Rust but I haven't stumbled across anything equivalent yet.
elktea··on “An ISP in Asia is leaking routes to a Tier 1 transit provider”
Full table was leaked
elktea··on Drink Cheap Wine
I agree. Once you develop a taste for wine the difference between a cheap bottle and $10-$15 bottle is noticeable. Perhaps I drink too much wine.
elktea··on Material-ui 0.8 removes all CSS and switches to full js inline styling
I tried to right click and inspect what was going on on their demo site and it treats left and right click as the same action. Oh dear.
