This usually has similar (in practice) performance characteristics to LTE Advanced.
5G SA is an actual, end to end 5G network. The two biggest wins here for an end user are reduced latency (a big focus in 5G) and reduced power usage (the phone doesn’t need a simultaneous 4G connection).
This was the network that had heat island issues because it was volunteer stations highly biased towards urban areas.
It was superseded by USCRN (which you linked to) in 2005. USCRN is 114 stations intentionally situated away away from development. USCRN shows MORE warming than global networks, around .3* C per decade, and it recorded 2024 as the warmest year on record.
The article you are indirectly citing (https://dailysceptic.org/2023/04/08/u-s-government-has-an-ac...) is easily disproven if you analyze the numbers: https://www.theclimatebrink.com/p/the-most-accurate-record-o...
- check your temp settings vs. Qwen's recommendations, they specify what it should be in the model card for thinking on, and that reduces some "over" think.
- the model appears to be intentionally designed to do a lot more test-time compute, if you anthropomorphize the tokens, it looks like overthinking and anxiety, but it is just spending compute to get to the end result, so it may not actually help it to prompt down the token spend (depending on the problem)
Probably not the best for the types of decks you shared though.
Member stations could be responsible for more local content and be a part of a network that syndicates content from other stations.
It could cover more than just news though - children's programming, think pieces, deeper dives into government.
Man, that would be great.
Edit: Sorry, didn’t mean this to be as sarcastic towards you OP, more annoyed we defunded it last year.
That's not my argument, you are putting words in my mouth. My argument is "you better have a good reason to argue the commercial air industry is stagnant because the industry's incremental progress over time has been incredible." Look at this chart: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_economy_in_aircraft
That's crazy!
The issue with your 737 MAX story is the trade-offs they made - oversized engine without massive recertification or requiring airport retrofits - worked. It is an absurdly successful product despite the early engineering failures. It is the best selling Boeing aircraft of all time and the second best selling commercial airline of all time (to the a320).
Innovation for the sake of innovation isn't worth anything, the current commercial airline stack is deeply optimized and delivers low cost, safe travel to hundreds of millions of people globally. What, exactly, would you like to see innovation on? What trade-offs are you willing to make?
I spent a few years in the commercial airline industry. They have a ton of problems, very few of them would be solved with a revolutionary plane design.
Why does it need bold new design and innovation? More people (can afford to) fly every year, more safely, and with broadly more consistency than they ever have. The success of the commercial aviation industry as a whole is breathtaking.
I miss EV so much. I've always wondered if an MMO version of it, like EVE but with the interface/graphics of EV, would work.
You don't think exploring a problem/possibility space (heh) that is probably unobtainable is an effort in creativity?
Why can't you process their fantasizing about it as an output of human creativity?
Because there is value for the artist in maintaining the perception of accessibility.
