eccfcco15··on Universal Paperclips
Good suggestion. It is a bit short (or I was really bored that day...). Totally worth playing.
eccfcco15··on Richard Stallman Has Been Vilified by Those Who Don’t Know Him
Disclaimer: I use they/them pronouns. As far as I’m concerned, there’s two ‘gender neutral concepts’, people who you don’t know the pronouns of, and people who explicitly use gender neutral pronouns. If he wanted to refer to people as per by default, I don’t care, you do you. But as soon as I tell someone that I go by they/them, I would absolutely expect them to respect that. By reading his article on pronouns, it sounds as though he likely would not do so.
eccfcco15··on Introducing public beta of Datalore – web application for machine learning
Do you have any details on the compute resources available? How much ram do we get, are GPUs available? I can’t find anything on pricing, so I’m assuming it’s free, at least for the time being?

Thanks for this, it looks really cool!

eccfcco15··on Ask HN: How to become the first result of a Google search for a name?
FYI, it looks like you have an expired SSL cert on your website.
eccfcco15··on Ask HN: What are best tools for web scraping?
Which hosts have you used, or would you recommend?
eccfcco15··on The advertising industry has been living a lie
This article leaves me with several questions: once a website is revealed to be fraudulent, is there not a way for the advertisers to get their money back? And are none of the advertisers suing the people behind the fraudulent websites?
eccfcco15··on Flatiron School settles for operating without license, employment/salary claims
As a college student, I consistently put in 60-80+ hours a week into my studies. I know this is just one data point, but I think your estimate of what it takes to be a student is way off. However, I do take a lot of classes, and do research, so I may be on the upper end.

(This is at a state school in the US.)

eccfcco15··on Using Scrapy to Build Your Own Dataset
Why? Isn’t it better to use a vps or two (or even just a vpn), and strong rate limiting? I.e. try not to be noticed regardless of the robots.txt.
eccfcco15··on Reverse engineering guide for beginners: Methodology and tools
It's not free, but IDA Pro has tracing functionality similar to what you want. There are bootleg copies if you look hard enough, an old version (5.0) free for windows only, and feature limited demos.
eccfcco15··on MIT Design and Analysis of Algorithms (Spring 2015)
It's a bit dense, but I found the first few chapters to be the worst. Once you get past the dull beginning, the rest is really interesting. I think it's a GREAT book! (We used it in all of my algorithms classes.)
eccfcco15··on We Hired a Blind Coder
I actually took a laptop, and took it apart (for other reasons). Putting it back together, I purposely didn't put on the screen. It works just fine. I usually use it over ssh, but I can plug in a monitor, and it does think that the internal monitor is still connected. So, I think you can do that on regular hardware. I'm not blind, so I wouldn't know how to operate it without the display, though.
