Then they wouldn't configure overcharge limit, would they?
It's not like it wasn't available, Linus just forgot to put a reminder to buy some once available (backordering them would have been even more prudent).
Maybe what Nike is doing is just as bad...
It's weirdly not that discussed on the web, most probably because it require a pretty specific situation.
How would you explain his reaction then?
He didn't explicitly said that, but he certainly implicitly said that, which is essentially the same in this situation.
That influx won't increase the revenue though... more miners doesn't produce more coins, it's just more secure.
Considering how thin theses margins can be for miners, some will need to stop their production.
Extra bonus feature? For me it's pretty obvious it's a necessity. Failover need to be in ALL case offline access.
> My point was that while their software is extremely convenient, it should not be the only place that stores all the means of accessing a service
I can't have an automatic backup done over each new password stored on it. If I need to do it manually each time, it's no longer really a password manager.
You are aware that criminals use all the same thing as you an me right? They use toothbrush too... should Coldgate not shrug their shoulders? Sure they don't commit crime with them, but they do use them. Want something they use to commit crime? Guns to kill, cars to evade, bags to carry the money, etc... what should all theses companies do? Let's go even closer, about privacy, what about balaclava manufacturer, it's the default thing considered for banks robbers, yet they still sell them!
I don't have all the details in this case, my guess is that Tornado Cash were aware that it was used by theses countries and could have stopped theses specific accounts (it would keep going for sure without their knowledge using alternative accounts obviously, just like many of theses countries still are able to get Windows illegally, but at least they would no longer be aware of theses accounts). In that case it does makes sense and I agree with the direct sanction of Tornado Cash. I would still disagree with the blanket sanction over the open source contributors, as they might have contributed without knowing it was used by sanctioned country.
Writing all that made me think of a question: do you believe contributor to Windows should be sanctioned too knowing that Windows is used in some of the sanctioned countries?
Sure we are responsible, but it's not our choice that this gas is emitted... we aren't the ones responsible to make the choice toward theses combustibles on the planes sadly.
Shifting it over the ones that actually have control over whether they use more or less gas, is a great way to incentive them to go toward the one that use less gas, as they only want the cheaper options, not the best options.
At the end of the day, we are still paying for it, but the one that do have the power to change it, now is the one that see it over their balance sheet.
Except that, the Youtube suggestions for me aren't bad. I do believe they are less good than before, because in the past I was able to find at least one new really good channel per month and now it has been a long time without one. It could also be that I found most channels that interest me, or that the pandemic did affect this quite a bit. I still get mostly good recommendations, a third are channels I already subscribe to (which is redundant on the frontpage as I go to the subscriptions pages for that) and videos I already watched, but everything else is mostly content I may be able to enjoy.
You can easily filter it, by unsubscribing to content you don't actually want. If you watch so little content of a channel that it annoys you to see it on the subscriptions pages, then you shouldn't be subscribed to them.
I can't see how adding a filter system would be less annoying at that point, you would take more time by selecting some filter than just ignoring that specific content. Out of my 352 subscriptions, I got 22 videos yesterday, quite fast to skip them.
I'm no expert but I feel like roaming still require some sort of "authentication" over the original network and obviously Rogers would have failed on that part.
You just made me realize how much cash trading platform probably are making using leverage. That explain why they were so quick to add theses coins. I'm curious to know how they manage the risk though.
Here's the correction
> How about $50m in ads with $1m in donation?
> Perhaps $50m in ads with $5m in donation?
> Or maybe $50m in ads with $10m in donation?
The $50m is how many they are going to spend in ads, it's fixed. They want to reach theses eye balls, and increasing the amount donated won't increase the amount of eye balls. They are going to spend $50m in ads. They want theses minutes of airtime... donating more won't pay for more airtime (unless it become news worthy but that's a whole other level).
That $50m is the amount decided to reach their audience. Increasing the donation won't increase the reach...
I remember recently a pizza chain in my province decided to stop all their ad campaign for a month and give the amount they would have spend otherwise to people. Hey if it works for Mr. Beast, it could work for them right? I saw it on Tiktok so a good platform to allow organic sharing, well a week later I started to see ads about it on Facebook... they didn't reach their audience.
So yeah that spending is for their ads, they are going to spend it, it's there for a reason. Believe me, if they could lower it in some way, they would... that's called business. Is there really anyone in the world happy to pay ads and that doesn't do anything to try to lower that cost?
At best they could avoid the bad press from r/antiwork (does it really matters? how many views did that get versus that $50m ads?), but I got a feeling that they would still complains about the fact that they spend more in ads than in the actual donation.
Why a $100k donation is useful? Well obviously because it's good that they gave $100k... You prefer $50m of ads with 0 donation? You do you, but I prefer the former...
No one force him to do that... but that's what happens when he doesn't. You aren't forced to wear seatbelt (well bad example, as the law actually force you, but enough doesn't so my point still stand) but once you get into an accident, you'll be happy that you had it.
OP explains what happens when Casper is not specific enough... what Casper does with that information is up to him, but clearly, not wearing that seatbelt is hurting him right now enough to write theses blog spot.
It literally can't do it in an "in a non-infringing way" as it wasn't made to do it "in a non-infringing way".
People were able to get copy-pasted code verbatim. It means it does not know whether what it does infringe on the GPL or not.
Let say you find a human that never knew anything about copyright and you show him a bunch of Disney movies and you ask him to make you a movie and he literally copy one of their movie. Does it make it non-infringing? (Funny thing is, even people aware of copyrights does infringe it... so yeah hard to say even a machine could make some non-infringing content).
The solution would be to at least make him aware of copyrights and works with that, but first is it even possible, and seconds, is it even enough...
Sadly nothing will ever be done, at least not until it we feed it Disney movies and it start to affect their bottom lines.
- Gandi : I get "Temporary error" - Regery : Seems to allow it but I don't know how much we can trust that. - OVH : I get "Unavailable" - Netim : "Registrations are currently not possible."
I think it's fair to say that it's not that easy...
