duck··on Lego has designed a set that can't be taken apart
Not sure if my kids have that many sets yet (they basically just want Legos for every present so we'll be there soon), but I can definitely relate to this. Every set there is a "missing" piece that they ask me about, but it is always either found in the wrong spot or on the floor somewhere. It is to the point now that they tell me a piece is missing, I give them the look, and then they go back and find it on their own.
duck··on Processing and P5 got newbies into coding
Well said! The community is amazing and I always love sending people to Daniel Shiffman's Coding Train (https://thecodingtrain.com/) as that to me is a great example of how to do tutorials in a very accessible way.
duck··on There is currently no way to drive between Vancouver and the rest of Canada
It might have just opened, but I5 was closed overnight as well south of Bellingham.

duck··on Ask HN: Where are all the old Show HNs?
I used a "Tell HN", but mine from 11 years ago is still going strong. :)

That said, I think most of them die because of a lack of time and/or other interests come along. I can't even count how many folks have reached out about starting a similar newsletter and only one or two kept going for more than year. With side-project especially, it is hard to find users, and that can be pretty discouraging.

duck··on U.S. Treasury Data Lab
It should be required on a site like this to show how much it cost to make and maintain it.
duck··on Launch YC S21: Meet the Batch, Thread #6
You mention data lineage on your pricing page, but do you have any examples of what that looks like? Can you support custom lineages driven by an api?
duck··on An intro to Pen Plotters (2019)
That pen changer is really cool and seems like a simple setup.
duck··on I wrote a children's book / illustrated guide to Apache Kafka
Cool to see you on HN! I use to rotate through all your wallpapers back in the day (what seems like forever ago) - glad to see you're still at it!
duck··on Ohio sues Google, seeks to declare the internet company a public utility
Those companies aren't utility companies though.
duck··on Child tweets gibberish from US nuclear-agency account
Or Slack everyone with "I'm a noob!"...
duck··on Ask HN: Is there a curated newsletter version of Hacker News?
I need to fix the signup page, but https://hackernewsletter.com/ is alive and active - issue #548 will go out Friday.
duck··on Cancel We The Web? (2020)
Here is the thread in question: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1172283772428906496.html
duck··on HEY: Email the Web
An announcement from Jason a couple weeks ago with a little more backstory: https://world.hey.com/jason/hey-world-b02a6f2e
duck··on Letters from House members to cable providers [pdf]
One important question related to this is if a news org doesn't cover a valid story? Is that lying by omission? Probably not, but from an audience standpoint is there really a difference?
duck··on U.S. Capitol Locked Down Amid Escalating Protests
Not quite what you're looking for, but have you seen this? https://www.their.tube/
duck··on HN Alternative UIs
It is still active... I've just been lazy and haven't fix the archive yet.
duck··on Oracle Moving HQ to Austin
That quote is actually a book: https://www.amazon.com/Difference-Between-God-Larry-Ellison/...
duck··on The Treehouse Is De-Plaformed
I'm not saying that statement is true, but if we go by "don't see any data that backs this statement up", then that would be 99% of the internet.
duck··on Animal Populations Fell by 68% in 50 Years and It’s Getting Worse
I recently listened to a great podcast talking about beavers and it mentioned some population stats for North America (can't recall the numbers now). Beavers are right behind humans in terms of how they have shaped the land.

duck··on U.S. FAA proposes requiring key Boeing 737 MAX design changes
I would imagine with a company of the size of Boeing you could find a larger group of folks that wouldn't allow their families to fly in any airplane.
duck··on Show HN: I made a full-text searchable archive of Kale's hackernewsletter
Will do! When you get a chance please send me a email with your contact info so I can reach out.
duck··on Show HN: I made a full-text searchable archive of Kale's hackernewsletter
Ha, this is great - thanks for building this! I've been wanting to do more around my archive, but it is hard to find the time these days.
duck··on Should I Block Ads?
I wish instead of calling them "ad blockers", we had used something like "tracking blockers". The tracking/automation of ad networks is what the issue is, not the ads, yet we've made it more confusing for those that don't understand how these things work.
duck··on Should I Block Ads?
You do realize that most podcasts will go away if they can't make money via advertising, right?
duck··on How to use UTM parameters to grow your audience
Ah, okay... that makes sense and is a great setup. Did you run into any issues with spam filters when you made that switch?
duck··on How to use UTM parameters to grow your audience
I think that is exactly what Peter ended up doing for his newsletters.
duck··on How to use UTM parameters to grow your audience
Just to add to Peter's comment, the one issue with links via email/newsletters is that they show up as 'direct' traffic with no referral, so they are about impossible to link back to anything w/o the utm params.
duck··on Shopify CTO: our platform is now handling Black Friday level traffic every day
Those look great, but it seems like that might be a tough market for a while. I think most skiers (at least the ones I know) are still really bummed about the shortened season and probably aren't looking to shell out some cash for something that just reminds them of that fact.
